"I can't recommend this hotel enough – I spent 3 nights here and loved every minute. Everything was perfect – super location, a clean, serene room with a balcony to sit out on and watch all the wildlife... Delicious breakfast and food in the restaurant (and at the moment all the football matches projected on the wall!) ... Every member of staff was kind and helpful... And so many nice touches: the lovely yoga in the open air studio... freshly baked cake every afternoon... and a to-go breakfast on my last morning as I had an early flight. Hope to be back before too long!"
"Barcelo Tambor was so impressive, especially the food selection. All grounds and staff were over the top. I highly recommend this exceptional Costa Rican vacation destination."
"This was a short but sweet treat to one of the most beautiful coastline of Costa Rica. The staff was super friendly, everybody was helpful, accommodating, supportive, and the condition of the property as well as the food of the restaurant was very good. We traveled with our two year old toddler, and the stuff always was very kind and friendly with her while practicing for Spanish.
The coastline is beautiful, we arrived after our weather event, so the ocean was rougher than normal. Despite that hiking around the beach, walking to town was easy and beautiful.
We have a chance to visit nearby beaches, waterfalls river outlets in Cabo Blanco or within a 25 to 30 minute drive. For the most part, the roads were in good shape despite sections not having asphalt.
There was not a lot of people around the area, which also made it quite pleasant. This hotel is a gem in the region and one that also supports the local community. Highly recommended and can’t say enough good things about the place.
I guess the only two things that we would suggest is to come prepare for the mosquitoes, I’ll make sure you have good reef shoes as the rocks are pretty sharp as you walk along the different beaches.
A suggestion for the hotel would be to provide a better map of the parking location and transportation from Montezuma. This is a slightly peaky comment, as the majority of people would have no problem getting there."
"My daughter and I planned a girls trip and we couldn’t have been happier. The staff, shoutout to Sebastian and Karla, could t have been more knowledgeable and helpful. Harry the GM gave us a lot of good suggestions for local spots. We went fishing and caught mahi mahi and yellow fin and Chef made us some amazing meals from that catch. Memories for a lifetime!"
"Me quede en el hotel por segunda vez y la calidad se sigue manteniendo. Habitación limpia y ordenada. El desayuno es muy completo; y la atención super buena."
"I wish I could give more than 5 stars.
After a 20+ hour travel day, we arrived exhausted and unfortunately encountered a bug issue on our first night. What impressed us most wasn’t the problem itself, but how the staff handled it. They immediately took our concerns seriously and, without us even asking, upgraded us to their best villa, which was significantly nicer and more expensive than our original booking.
From that point on, the team went above and beyond to make us comfortable. They regularly checked on us, treated the room multiple times, provided extra towels for the doors, and did everything possible to make us feel safe and welcome.
The hospitality throughout our stay was exceptional. The staff helped arrange tours, excursions, transportation, shuttle services, and even connected us with a reliable taxi driver. Everyone was friendly, personable, and genuinely invested in making sure we had a great experience.
A special thank you to Cynthia and Shami, who were incredibly helpful before and during our stay. They answered questions, helped us prepare for the trip, and were always available when we needed assistance. They even had breakfast ready early for us on mornings when our excursions started before breakfast service officially opened.
What could have been a rough start turned into an amazing stay because of the kindness, professionalism, and dedication of the staff. We left feeling cared for and would happily stay here again."
