Vivanta Mangalore Oldport Road - Formerly Known as Taj Manjarun
10/10 Excellent
"This appeared to be the most luxurious hotel in the area. We had previously stayed at A.J. Grand and found it did not have sufficient ameneties in the room and booked at Vivanta for the second night of our stay in Mangalore. Really happy we made the switch! The lobby and restaurants were upscale. Our bedroom and bathroom were clean, modern, and had everything one would expect. There was a strange odor in our hallway when we arrived, but we did not smell it again later in the day. The area around the botel is not great. It is not suitable for walking around/exploring. You'll need to take an auto if you want to get out. "
"Staying here has been the worst experience, forget other aspects, staff is not only incompetent but crooks as well. We booked classic room which was confirmed and when we reached the property, they claimed they are all booked and issue was with website. We had to settle for a much cheaper room since it was already late under the promise that they would refund the difference which they agreed to but never did. The room was smelly and there was no hot water. Staff acts oblivious to any issue if you ask them for assistance. We stayed there just for the night but pretty sure if we would have stayed longer, we would have found more gems in their issue treasure box."
"The proximity to most places was an advantage. The breakfast was simple but fairly good. The personnel at the front desk and Lawrence were very accommodating and understanding. The room too was fairly clean, though baby cockroaches are an issue. On my second day I noticed a couple so requested the reception to get room service to clean and spray.
I was rather disappointed that the breakfast was cold the first day, but after letting the front desk know, it was good the next few days I was there. The driveway was being re-done when I was at the hotel. So I could not park on the premises. Though , there was a driver to valet park and get the vehicle for me when needed. That was good-Thank you.
Overall a good stay. Thank you!
