"I checked in as a solo female traveler visiting family in the area. Upon arrival, there was a large group of men gathered in the lobby. During check-in, the front desk staff announced my room number out loud while handing me my key. This is a basic safety practice most hotels follow, and failing to do so shows a lack of awareness or training when it comes to guest security—especially for those traveling alone.
Unfortunately, that wasn’t the only issue. The secondary interior lock (swing bar latch) was completely broken off, leaving no added security beyond the deadbolt. The room was also noticeably run down and poorly maintained. The shower had deteriorating, missing caulking, and the closet had an exposed opening where I could see directly into the plumbing and backside of the shower.
To add to the frustration, I was disappointed with pool policy. My sister, brother-in-law and their children (ages 2, 9,11) stopped by to play in the pool for 1 hour before dinner. Neither my sister nor I swam, but I was charged $40 for the kids and BIL. They are a local family who have used the hotel’s community room for events and visited other visiting guests at this hotel, guests who never had to pay an additional charge for the pool. It feels like a blatant money grab rather than a reasonable or fair rule. Where does the $10 per person go? Not maintenance!
Between safety concerns, poor maintenance, and questionable policies, this stay was disappointing. Would not recommend.

"Breakfast was good. There were multiple choices including waffles eggs, sausage, and biscuits and gravy. The room was clean and the shower was good. The staff was friendly. This was a great hotel to stay for a night while traveling."
