We really enjoyed our stay at the Mount Cook Lodge. The views were spectacular! The room was clean and perfect for what we needed. We’d recommend this place for those who love hiking and nature. Beautiful!
Comfortable room, very clean with amenities to cook or heat food. Eating options in July are limited because restaurants/ cafes apart from the Hermitage hotel are closed. Best to check this before booking in winter months. We enjoyed the experience of staying in the village at base of Mt Cook.

The reception man had such an accent it was very hard to understand. We had to contact reception 4 times to get our heat pump to work. You could not dial in your preferences for temperature required. There was only 1 chair in the room to sit in. We asked for another chair and after over an hour had to request again. One sliding window would not work - it appeared to be locked. Difficulty in finding a park near the building. Asked to pay a bond of $300 was not expected - never had to do that in New Zealand.
Good points - double glazing meant quiet until the man next door went in and out multiple times and his door shut loudly. It then sounded as if the neighbour was remodelling the room! Other good points - good bar and restaurant in the building but the reception staff did not mention it. They wanted you to go up to a far more expensive restaurant up at the Hermitage Buildings. Granted this particular restaurant had just opened for the year.
Our stay was a highlight of our 8 day trip to the South Island. The room was clean. The heated floor was a very nice touch. The shower was generous in size. The restaurant staff were friendly. Our only complaint was that the check in process was lengthy as there was only one staff member on the desk - he needed some help!!

Lovely renovated room, a little small but for two people it was great. It was fabulous to stay right at Mt Cook National Park and this was a highlight. Dinner was great and had great choices. Amazing location.
We had a wonderful time at the motel. Great views from the room. From the reception and visitor information staff and the house cleaning team all amazing.
Great property with amazing views inside the room and all around the property!! It's located in such a peaceful area. Looking forward to visiting again.
World class hotel facilities in a beautiful, remote location. I definitely feel I got my money’s worth for the comfort and services offered at this spotless, spacious hotel in the middle of a National Park.
We really enjoyed our stay here. Rooms seem updated and clean, and had great views (the front rooms have a better view of the mountains of course). Also the on site restaurant was perfect for dinner.
