In spite of making a confirmed, prepaid booking thru Expedia, the hotel had no record of my reservation when I arrived for check in. Made me wait 20 mins while they checked their system, and finally explained that 'Expedia did not send their system the booking'! The woeful state of Trident's technology infrastructure was further evidenced when I couldn't log into the WiFi in my room. The tech guy came and similarly struggled to log on. Told me that lots of guests with Macbooks (like me) or iPads have problems logging into the WiFi - best of luck to all you Apple users, no WiFi for you at Trident! When the tech guy finally did some manual configuration and connected me, he was as surprised as me when the Internet speed was abysmal - a web page took 60 seconds to load, and then only halfway! Slower than the days when we used 56k dial-up modems. So I gave up on the WiFi and asked for a LAN connection cable - only to be told that the hotel's LAN network is under maintenance. So I gave up and got into a forced digital detox mode. The aircon in the room was highly noisy and erratic, thermostat didn't work, couldn't sleep well. Had an early start the next morning, went down to the lobby lounge for breakfast at 6.30 am. Service was terrible. A couple of waiters hiding behind the counter unwilling to look at me and meet my eyes as I'm trying to get someone to give me a plate and cutlery. Finally got hold of a harassed young lady running around, who got me an incomplete cutlery set.
