"Fine for an overnight stay next to the highway, but disappointing for a Van der Valk hotel.
Some good points: easy location, ample free parking, and large rooms with balconies. However this hotel clearly isn’t run to the same high standards as others in the chain. The decor has bumps, scrapes and marks everywhere, and it’s not acceptable to let black mould grow in the shower. "
"Elke and Wout are lovely. They are generous, kind, and sensitive hosts. Their home is beautiful. You will be treated to big breakfasts served on lovely China with delicious homemade bread, eggs from their own chickens, homemade jams, locally made cheeses and various meats. Dinner is also fantastic and Wout does a perfect blue steak, wonderful fish dishes and his frites are fantastic! The Dining Room has a wonderful aspect. "Love the interior of this property, the color pairing makes me feel aesthetic. The small kitchen unit is very useful to me and it comes with all the equipment I need to do simple cooking. The separated nook in the corner for working and eating is very nice. The bed and comforter are so comfy. Bathroom size is great and the shower is strong enough. I love the high ceiling, making the space feel more roomy. I do wish the lights are brighter but at least there is a big window. Great location to easily walk into the old town. An amazing vegan brunch place nearby called Madam Bakster. "
"We found the hotel an oasis of calm during our time in Ghent. The staff were really friendly and helpful. We enjoyed the breakfast as well. The location is perfect for the city centre and parking, although expensive, was easy. You can also charge your electric car as well. "
"We stayed at the Residence Inn for 8 nights. We had a king size bed that was the perfect firmness. Aitana, front desk receptionist, helped secure a stovetop for our room & was extremely helpful during our stay. I had VIP access and received a nice small bottle of medium sweet white wine. It was delicious. On my birthday, we returned from Ghent to find balloons on the bed and a lovely card & bottle of wine! There is a bus across the street that takes you to Ghent train station where you can walk or take trams to the centrum. Ghent is my favorite city in Belgium! If you have a car, Brugge is not that far. We scored tickets to a Brugge Club match. Nearby the hotel is an Albert Heijn supermarket where we purchased food & beverages. There is also a futbol stadium nearby. Great stay! Outside of the city but super convenient to highways & transportation."

The food (breakfast and dinner) were both standout, the room was spacious and comfortable and the staff very friendly. The whole place is very tranquil. We’ll definitely go back. "
