I loved this place. The architecture just made me happy and felt like a classic hotel of the past with beautiful warm woods and lux styling. It was easy to picture the lobby dining room and conferences rooms bustling with folks have a great time. The employees had also decorated for the holidays in a super wonderful way. The bed was very comfortable and room very spacious with a fantastic ac/heating unit.
However, I'd also have to agree with giving it a 3-4 star rating. It was lacking the details - clearly from age and being well loved over the years. Every single surface was scuffed from the walls, to doors, black marks all over the elevator doors, the carpet coming up in many places, and it felt like every crevice had some kind of gross dirt. The worst part however was the tables in the room. Every table felt like a toddler had spilled an entire case of soda and jello across the surface. And it looked like it. Finger prints and cup rings were stuck in the weird stickiness. Best we can figure is the wrong product is being used to clean these wooden surfaces and it's ruined the varnish - but it was icky. The bathroom was also very small, and our room was missing its intended fridge.
But I would 100% stay here again. Little details don't take away from the sheer amount of peace and quiet we experienced. They say the rooms are sound proof and seem to mean it! Stepping into the hallway for ice we realized three rooms aroun"
