"The location is unbeatable because it is within walking distance of the cloud forest. The grounds were beautifully landscaped and peaceful. The breakfast was delicious and the room was comfortable with a nice porch. I wish the room had a refrigerator and the hotel could use a pool or a hot tub, but the stay was nice overall."

"A hidden gem in the mountainous hills of Monteverede just outside the central town - about a 8 to 10 minute drive from Santa Elena proper! Perfect for families with kids who love farms and animals and the natural sounds of rural remote life. The rooms are gorgeous and spotless and roomy! The shower was fantastic! Fast hot water with amazing water pressure. Brand new build. The windows facing the east are thoughtfully tinted to ease the bright morning sun. Even though there is no AC unit in the room, the fan that came with the room helped keep us cool. At night it's breezy and cool and only at midday did it get a little stuffy. The staff is so kind and amazing and helpful. They helped secure us transportation from Monteverede to Playa Hermosa. Their restaurant on site was super tasty and the pancakes were such a highlight for the kids. The horses, donkeys, and sheep were so fun to pet. We walked to another restaurant down the road which was also great: Soda Canton 83 The Maze. They are building a pool as we speak! It looks like there is a lot of new construction happening near by which will make this Hotel even more sought after in the future! We will be back. Highly recommend."

"This is a comfortable lodge. Our room was spacious and clean. But we had a walk up room from the parking lot which was a bit of a hike. Also the walls are very thin and they dont have any quiet hours. Our neighbors stayed up past midnight talking and playing music and we were super exhausted from a day of hiking and had to ask them to keep it down twice. It would be good to enforce some quiet hours. The breakfast at hotel Ficus was good and we enjoyed the happy hour. Overall it was pricey for the walk up room and thin walls. Also floors were slippery. And no pool or hot tub."

"Rooms were exactly as advertised and very clean. The service went from great to average to great again. The restaurant staff seemed a bit inexperienced. The food was very good. The presentation and service was just above average. The staff attempted to address the issues and I would recommend giving it another try. "

"A sweet little place. There was a lovely pool with hammocks and full outside kitchen with large fridge that guests could use. The room was simple but very clean. Bed was a bit firm but comfy. Shower was hot. Our host Laurie was awesome. When we arrived she offered for supper to be prepared for us for a very reasonable fee. We had a delicious vegatable au gratin with rice pudding served on the upper deck. We also were served a wonderful breakfast up on the deck as well. We walked to the beach which was lovely for sunsets but not suitable for swimming. "
