I had to cancel this reservation. I made the reservation the night before I was to drive 300 miles to attend funeral service for my first cousin in DeKalb (12 miles west of New Boston.). The date that I was going to spend at the Holiday Inn Express in New Boston was February 8. I was just about to leave my home in Bellaire (Houston area) to make the trip when I was notified by a friend that she had Covid. We had spent about 2 hours sitting by each other on Sunday at lunch and visiting. She had been so sick that she hadn’t notified me. Both of us had all 5 Covid shots; so had the couple from whom she had caught it. I only had a slight nausea in my stomach, but I called my PCP and made an immediate appointment to get tested. It was after 1pm when I received negative results, but I decided it might not be a good thing to make that long drive that day—and for the first time I thought there might be Covid circulating among my relatives in DeKalb because my cousin who lives there does not believe in taking the Covid vaccine. My friend who notified me about her having caught it from the couple that are with us and they had just gotten home from a Mexican cruise. I was exposed to them also. I have been taking an Elderberry tonic to increase my immune system and I think that might have protected me. I tried to call Hotel.com , through whom I made the reservation just the night before to cancel the reservation & got msg system was not working. I had hoped to get a refund.

I give it a yes and I'm hard to please!
It was a great little hotel and the room was spotless and had very nice amenities. I wish our stay was longer to enjoy the room more. The breakfast and coffee was delicious. Would stay there again and I do recommend but not thru hotels.com price was too high. They do not give military discounts or other discounts and had we booked directly we would have received those.

Great for a one night stay as a pit stop.
Outside of hotel showed some wear. Inside was clean and nice looking. However the entire hotel and room had a strong musty odor that I think may be coming from the AC units. Lady at counter said they are in the process of replacing them but did not confirm they were the source. Room was great but bed was too firm for us, but still a nice bed, and toilet seat was loose. No biggie there, just needs a little better TLC. Breakfast is your standard hotel buffet breakfast. Nothing made in house, unless you like that kind of thing. Town is small and not many options for dining other than FF or BBQ, Mexican, and 1 local steak house.

Pool needs cleaned badly, guest were a little shady. Men wondering around all hours. Day and night. Definitely wouldn't venture out of my room alone. Keep your head on a swivel. Staff were nice and accommodating. Room was nice. Not the cleanest but nice.

Clean and comfortable, however, checking in the representative appeared to dislike her job and communicated check out time non-verbal by pointing to a sign twice as if she were too cool and put out.
