Its a little gem hidden away just of the main road it does not serve food but you can pop out the garden gate to the michalangelo hotel next door who also serves breakfast

Upon arrival, charged an additional £30 on top of what was already booked and paid. Room did not have bathroom attached, had to walk down hallway past other rooms. Room was small and cluttered with useless furniture with literally nowhere to put suitcase. Window open (November) so room was cold. No way of adjusting heating in the room for personal preference. Was on full blast (by my bed head) during the night, but off during the day, so room was freezing cold during the day time. Had to ask for additional toiletries, coffee supplies as was told there was no service during the stay. Rooms are not cleaned or serviced. Ran out of toilet paper in bathroom. Seemed stingy and poor.

I’ve stayed at the Headgefield many times and always had a good stay .Hosts are always very friendly . If you don’t drive good bus services to Town and Metro Centre . A stunning house with beautiful gardens

Excellent Stay
A nice, quiet location with first-class service and facilities. Rooms and toilets were immaculate when I arrived, and it felt homely which exceeded my expectations. Only two minor downsides - location (which doesn't really matter if you're driving, but I was hiking/ walked from the train station), and the bathroom is not located in your room (it was directly opposite my room, whcih meant I had to step into the corridor first) though it is still an en-suite/ private one.

My stay was excellent. The room was enormous and comfortable with a seating area. Attention to detail made it feel luxurious. They do not do breakfast or evening dinner but that is made explicit and I knew this. Michaelangelos is next door and they provide breakfast and dinner - excellent in fact. I would have no hesitation staying here again - my first choice.

Friendly and comfortable. Other guests were not heard and rarely seen. We did not want food so all was as expected. The local restaurant Michael Angelo , is recommended.

We would return
A hotel that provides the highest of standards and comfort. The car park was secure and the local restaurant was within an easy walking distance. This is a place that we would return to. If there was a minor criticism we thought the mattress was beginning to get past its best.

Highly recommended
What a room! The bathroom should have its own postcode! David greeted me with a handshake, showed me to the room, explained the gate etc. Very warm and welcoming. If travelling up I will be staying there again without hesitation. A gorgeous place, room wonderful and ornate and a very decent nights sleep.

It was a nice hotel but unexpected. Everything was very ornate inside. All very clean and the service was good, especially at breakfast. I was disappointed that the gym was not available till 10 am as I had already left by then. They managed to accommodate gluten free options albeit it was a bit limited.

Hedgefield House was surprisingly pleasant and quite historic and we enjoyed our stay in beautiful surroundings and a very large and comfortable room just above the door in the picture. The bathroom was huge. We were made very welcome on arrival and assistance was given regarding local places to eat. Breakfast was served overlooking the garden and was continental with a very good choice of cereals, fruits, yogurts, pastries and juices. The house was the site of the first telephone call and this was attended by Alexander Graham Bell in 1877 to the local coal mine. Hedgefield House is accessed via security gates and there is ample parking. We did not have time to use the gym or sauna room. Would highly recommend staying here if in the area.

Quiet oasis of comfort and charm
A wonderful surprise last-minute booking as we needed to break our drive south - booked the day of travel and ended up wishing we could have stayed longer. Really affordable for what you get. Comfy rooms, excellent continental breakfast, and a quiet beautiful old estate home. We were a bit apprehensive driving to the address, as it's along a busy street with lots of big-box industry around. But the guest house is set off the road in a large and impeccably-maintained garden oasis, and the rooms are garden-facing, so it's like being in the country. The hosts are warm and welcoming. Don't hesitate to book this gem.

Some issues !
Although it was my fault I missed a Continental Breakfast by 10 mins - it was only available from 07:30 til 08:30 - didn’t notice any other information in the room about this. Also I’m very concerned about the Fire issues as my room as a Fire Eacape and I locked it plus some electrical issues I was not happy about. I did think the room was ensure, but wasn’t. Lovely grounds, house and pleasant welcome
