Stayed for a long weekend on my own to attend an event in the town. My first impressions were not great: the decorating looked tired with worn, grubby carpets and the paintwork was faded and discoloured.
The sash window looked out onto the main road of the town. The top half didn't close properly, leaving a half inch gap which meant that a) it was draughty and b) I heard all the boy racers zipping through town in their noisy cars.
My bathroom was a jaunty walk down the corridor past a couple of other bedrooms. Not good when you need to use the toilet in the middle of the night!
Shower was cold each morning. I worked out that running the hot tap for 5 minutes would get the shower warmed up. Then one morning the shower head slid down the pole and hit me in the head!
I got very little sleep because the pub downstairs was so loud until the wee hours of the morning, presumably when the punters were sent home.
During my four nights there, the bin in my room was emptied once.
Oh, and the hotel doesn't do food so be prepared to eat fish 'n' chips, curry or kebab!
I never thought I would write this but I feel like I have been spoiled by Premier Inns!
