"The hotel smelled like smoke, there were stains all over the bed and sheets & the air in the hotel just felt damn. We immediately left as soon as we checked in"
"The first bedroom I entered was poorly lit and a bit shabby, but tolerable. However, the tub and shower area of the bathroom was shockingly unclean with built-up soap scum, dirt from feet, and possibly mold. The light switch was cracked and stained, and the tissue dispenser in the wall was rusty. The walls apparently used to have wallpaper and the residual wallpaper paste was never removed. They were crudely painted over, making the rough patches look like mold. There were holes in the closet walls and the doors had been removed from the frame for some reason. I went to the front desk to ask for a better room, and the attendant appeared to write down the concerns I listed. He said he had another room just a couple doors down from the original one, so it wouldn't be hard to move. When I entered the second room, it was as dim and even more shabby than the first. The bathroom's tub and shower area was equally dirty, with rusty or missing fixtures. By this time, it was late, I was exhausted, and it was stormy and cold outside. Thankfully, the heater worked so I decided to gut it out, sleep there, and certainly did not take a shower in the morning! I needed to leave early to get to a conference in a nearby town, so I didn't have time to complain directly to the front desk staff. It was the most poorly maintained hotel I have ever experienced! I wish I hadn't made the reservation on such short notice because it was listed as non-refundable. "
"The name is wrong on Hotels.com.
It is NOT The Pottsville Inn...... It is The Pottsville Hotel. That created a great deal of confusion initially.
I did pay extra for upgraded room, but no window(?) so I wonder what the upgrade was.
Staff was helpful, we requested extra towels and a light bulb in one of the sconces.
We got the extra towels but bulb was not replaced. A fire alarm went off in our room at 2:03 am while we were fast asleep...... not too happy about that but I managed to shut it off. Make sure to turn it back on in room 319"
