Steinenschanze Charming City & Garden Hotel

"Wonderful property easy to access from the central train station and a quick walk to the nearest platz to catch city trams and trains. Check in is quick and comes with a lovely welcome drink upon arrival. Rooms are tidy and there is a nice breakfast room/common area guests can use that empties into a beautiful garden space. The breakfast is delicious and comes with homemade preserves, a nice selection of cheeses, breads and fresh fruit. This is a great, reasonably priced property and I would highly recommend."

"Overall this is a very good hotel. The rooms are very clean, the staff are superb and very helpful. I especially liked them providing me with a bottle to fill with water, freely available on each floor -this was wonderful. My only criticism, and I’m being pedantic, is that it’s not obvious where to pay for items in reception fridges, I queued at bar only to be told I had to wait behind 5 people at reception waiting to checkout (I was joined by 6 others waiting to pay for same items at bar) But that shouldn’t put you off this excellent hotel."

"Very close to SBB - public transport. If you like the zoo it’s very close. We received a tourist card so public transportation was free and a lot of tourist attractions had great discounts. Would stay there again."

"The queen room was small. Loved that the window opened. Loved that they had breakfast, a bar and could order a light dinner of pizza. Great location to our retreat at the arena in Basel. And close to trams, buses."
