"We were unable to access the accommodation: upon arrival, we found ourselves in front of code boxes, no response to calls to the owner between 4 PM and 5 PM, no calls from him despite the message left on voicemail in English, no email indicating the codes. In short, unable to leave 2 children in the blazing sun, we were forced to book another hotel and lose the money for this rental. The fault does not rest entirely with the owner; Epedia also shares some responsibility, as the emails received...

"We absolutely loved everything about this apartment. The location is extremely convenient and the city views from inside the apartment (especially the view of the church) was beautiful. A lot of space for our family to stretch out , we traveled with two teenage girls and it was nice for them to each have their own bedroom. "Very clean and close to the train station, tram line and buses. Can reach Zurich airport in 1hr on a direct train. Supermarkets in close walking distance within a shopping centre that has a variety of clothes, shoes and groceries. A few restaurant options too. "

"A place of pro's and con's... - location - middle of old town - very quiet and good location. - easy to access, key locker worked well - Flat had been well cleaned, EXCEPT for the toilet seat which had accumulated many months of yellow stain on both sides... needed cleaned properly with bleach/ anti-bacterial. The shower is also getting a little cold around it.. - The room was big enough for the double bed and sofa bed. However, no way would I try 4 people in there are the bathroom is so small...

"The apartment was spacious andvery clean. The living room didn't have a sofa though, only two armed chairs so there was no confortable area to sit at the end of the day. I was told I had an assigned parking but every time we came back tired from visiting the city I had to look for another place to park. Their parking area is VERY limited, the rest is street parking and you have to move the car before 8:00 am. Not good. The neighborhood is not too nice and there are some "different" people...

The Lubo - self check-in

10/10 Excellent

"The Lubo is located in a very happening part of town. Charming squares, tons of restaurants and bars were footsteps away. The famous wooden bridge was a short walk and so was the promenade along the river. Lucerne main station is walkable, but be aware of the cobbled streets which make dragging trolley bags and strollers with small wheels difficult. Room was compact and fun with a queen size bed and two top bunks. Only complaint is that the AC was not very effective. We set it at 19 degrees C but the room wasn’t cooling at all which meant we were sweating all night. However we found that this is pretty common across Switzerland and we have been told across Europe. Definitely recommend staying here, we found it more cost efficient than other hotels in the area. The breakfast in the hotel cafe was yummy. Make sure you cross check the reservation number before you reach. The two numbers Expedia provided did not work so we had to call and get the right number."

"L’accueil a été fantastique. La chambre était parfaite. L’air climatisée bienvenue pendant cette période caniculaire. Nous l’avons apprécié même si elle était un peu bruyante. Le restaurant boléro était correct sans plus. La paella était un peu décevante. J’ai aimé l’option de ne pas demander le nettoyage complet de la chambre chaque jour en échange de boissons gratuites au bar."

"We have always stayed at Monopol when we go to Lucerne. The proximity to the train and the lake is superb. The reception staff were very personable. Even though I always consider Lucerne hotels to be quite expensive, I got a same day deal that pleased me. And the AC during this heat wave was needed and excellent! "

"Beautiful hotel full of character,, location so central for walking or bus. All staff so willing to help, Aston in reception helped with bookings. The breakfast staff and Sofie (Portugal) were wonderful. View from our balcony amazing, ac was much needed. Highly recommend- I’m going back x. Thanks to all"
