"This is our second time staying here. We stayed here the same time last year, with no issues. The property is clean, the staff is very polite and helpful. Our only issue is that when my daughter went to take her shower (at 6:30 am) she had no hot water. Then, when I went to take my shower at 8 am, there was no water at all. My daughter and I both tried for over 5 minutes to get the tub faucet to work. The bathroom si k had cold water, but if you turned it to the right or left, the water stopped. We called down to the front desk and she said she would send maintenance up. We kept trying. It suddenly came on, and it was like the water had been completely shut off because it spouted out brown water. We let it run for a couple of minutes and then tried the bot water, which worked. We called the front desk back to let them know."
"For me, this is a motor inn that checks all the boxes. It's pretty quiet, far from the heaviest Sturbridge traffic while still reasonably convenient to restaurants, attractions, and major highways. The room was clean and comfortable, the bed was great, and the heater was effective and not too loud. It wasn't exactly cozy -- two armchairs and a table were weirdly set up in an alcove next to a hanging ironing board, and I'm not sure there was a better place for them -- but as a place to sleep (and to work a bit at the desk), it hit the spot for a lot less money than other places I considered."
Publick House Historic Inn and Country Motor Lodge
8/10 Good
"The motor lodge shows some age, but my room was clean and well lit, the bed was comfortable, and there was plenty of space. There weren't many outlets, to the extent that it was harder than usual simply to charge my phone. And the TV was small and looked out of place on a large dresser, not that I visited Sturbridge to watch TV. But really my only reason not to rate this five stars by motel standards was being too close to I-84. I was in the topmost building, all but overlooking the highway about 0.1 mile away. I don't think noise would be an issue in the inn -- not sure about the other lodge buildings."
