"We truly loved the absolutely remote location of Diana Dea Lodge – it’s a peaceful hideaway surrounded by nature. That said, reaching the hotel is a bit of an adventure: the steep, winding road up requires some confidence, especially when navigating the occasional oncoming car in the dark. "This was probably a one-off situation that could have been avoided with proper advance notice. In the week leading up to our arrival, we received three notifications asking us to check in and pay for our stay—this was confusing, as I had already paid. Once I replied stating that I would settle any remaining balance at check-in, the notifications stopped. Upon arrival, it was clear the hotel was preparing to host a wedding. As a result, the restaurant—highly rated and one we had been looking forward to—was closed. Unfortunately, there were no appealing dining options nearby. The music from the wedding was extremely loud and continued well past 2 a.m. This was our last night in Réunion, and it wasn’t the relaxing evening we had hoped for. The hotel should have informed us in advance about the event and the restaurant closure, so we could have made an informed decision. The owner kindly reached out to us directly to apologize and offered to have a meal prepared, but by then we had already bought some basics at the local grocery store. I'm sure this was an isolated incident and that the hotel is usually quite comfortable, but I felt it was important to share our experience as this could have been avoided. "
