If booking a hotel book this one…. so unique and staff were amazing…… kept our baggage until check in time…. and the food was amazing……Wish we would have had more time here ……. i cannot say anything more about this place …. I would in a heart beat book it again if we were to return to this area……..

Incredible hotel with a very cool vibe and in excellent condition. The buffet breakfast was good value and the evening dinner in the onsite restaurant was great quality with the only downside being the very slow service, taking three hours to serve a four-course taster menu.

A must stay if in the region

Fascinating hotel, beautifully converted. Fabulous restaurant and terrific service. Lovely big room with view over park (try and stay in these rooms if you can). Only negative comment is, for a such a large room and bathroom, please design some bathroom bench space, guests have more than a toothbrush.

Fabulous design hotel with great bar, restaurant and terrace. The rooms are dark and dramatic with all modern amenities, the air conditioning could be fiercer but outside was 32 degrees so not too bad. Great shower pressure. The chef has amazing talent with lots of adventurous dishes. The restaurant staff seemed stressed. Breakfast was excellent too. Free access to the local outdoor pool was a nice touch.

A former historic prison decommissioned in 2009 this hotel provides an outstanding experience standing out in the area. Very upscale. Dining and bar are excellent. And doors open from both sides! - their tagline. You learn a lot about the failed 1848 revolution trying to install democracy.

Very nice and clean rooms. Poor customer focus by staff. Some were not willing to speak English. No support provided when both of the electric charging points for the car were occupied by two gasoline cars. So when traveling with an electric car, do not count on having a charging spot available.

Cool hotel - comfortable rooms.

The hotel design is incredible- I hadn't realised that the property had been a prison - unique and interesting and all decoration is to a high standard. Rooms are very comfortable. 1 downside- we arrived late after being delayed due to the most horrendous electrical storm and had called ahead to say we were going to be late and ask if the restaurant would still be open (or we would stop on the way). We were told that it would be open until 11. We eventually arrived at 10. We got food but the bar menu was essentially bruschetta or beef tartare. My colleague is gluten intolerant and asked if she could have a omelette but was told no. We asked for dessert at 10.50 and were told that the kitchen was closed. The staff were professional but there was no flexibility for very tired, hungry travellers who have to look to the hotel as a home from home when they are away. It was a bit of a shame. When you travel a lot what makes things easier and the difference from a good experience to a great experience is empathy.

Service could have been better

We arrived late and we understand that the only menu available was very small. However I asked if an omelette could me made. I could see at least 5 people working in the kitchen, however was told that this was not possible. I don't eat gluten and really there was not a lot on this menu to eat. I asked for a quiet room pre book in but was put next to a busy road.

Sjarmerende hotell

Utrolig sjarmerende hotell med flott beliggenhet. Tidligere vært et fengsel og stilen er tstt godt vare på. Hyggelige betjening og meget bra segvice. Meget bra restaurant med nydelig mat og også det topp service. Kommer gjerne igjen:-)

Notre chambre manquait d'éclairage narurel, une seule fenetre. Pas de bouteille d'eau a disposition. Et surtout, l'odeur dans la salle de restaurant etait trop prononcée et detangeante (poissons fumés). Acceuil agreable et beau décor cependant. Très bonne situation grographique.
