"room was very clean and property maintained. Minor complaint would be that the room trash cans are too narrow and small. Can't place a bag of empty fast food wrappers inside it. The bad trash can design is a waste of metal material. It would be better environmentally to have a regular sized hotel room trash can. Another item worth mentioning is the the room hallway doors are the standard one. This means you can hear people talking in the hallway at 11:30pm at night after they have been at a party and going to the room to sleep. It is a typical distraction. Hopefully those rude individuals will learn to be polite to the other guests and speak quieter when a few feet from the other person, and not project their voice down the hallway to someone else."
Holiday Inn Express Newark Airport Elizabeth by IHG
10/10 Excellent
"The shuttle was a little difficult to find when I arrived at EWR—this was my first flight into EWR and I arrived late (the train was inexplicably not operating); consequently, when I inquired about the shuttle I was directed to “P4” via the airport train. The latter issue I already addressed. The former, however, was arguably the most difficult part. I am hearing impaired—I heard “B4.” Once that was remedied, the shuttle service was spectacular and the driver was courteous, drove safely, and provided useful information about how to navigate the train/subway system to NYC. Though the hotel is ‘close’ to the airport, rest assured the shuttle service is the best (and my preferred) option (unless one is inclined to use Uber on-demand instead) because it was safe, reliable, and informative. The hotel is adjacent to a busy highway, but don’t let that fool you—once inside the building the noise was nullified. The grounds surrounding the hotel were clean and fenced with a gated entry. Though I was absent of a vehicle, I would have been confident that my vehicle would have been safe and secure. Inside the building I found all the public spaces to be clean and provided comfortable amenities. I would also wish to extend an emphasis regarding the cleanliness of the interior spaces including my room—If all else falls apart, cleanliness is the one category which would make or break a stay in a hotel, especially in our post-pandemic world. Hats off to the housekeeping staff!!"
"I had an unexpected layover at the Newark airport and a weary traveler came to the hotel at 3 AM in the morning I couldn’t have asked for a more beautiful front desk experience. She treated me like a VIP. Please know that the personal touch is always welcome."
