"I stayed for two nights in a one bedroom "Delux Chalet" which had a nice patio so you could sit outside and enjoy the sunshine. The room was very nice with a draw-around mosquito net on the bed which I didn't use. The bathroom had been completely renovated with floor to ceiling ceramic tiles with a full-sized bathtub at one end and a large shower at the other end. The room is extremely quiet at night and only the sounds of ducks quacking in the morning...no roosters! The complimentary breakfast served in the dining room patio area is absolutely terrific. The fried Chombo fish is caught fresh in Lake Malawi about an hour away. I passed on the fish. The sausages are very tasty and the bacon is quite thick. There is a girl behind the buffet-style breakfast bar that will make you an omelette or an egg any way you want it. The hotel staff are very polite and accommodating. For local transportation I highly recommend "B &C" taxi. This is also the same driver the hotel uses whenever guests need a taxicab. I would caution anyone arriving at the Lilongwe airport to not use any of the cab drivers that hang out at the airport. Their cars are run down, their fuel guages are all well below the "empty" line, and they charge too much for a ride to Lilongwe. You should not pay more than 60,000 Kwatchas for the 35-minute ride from the airport to town. Better that you call the front desk at the Lilongwe Sunbird Hotel and ask them to send their driver to the airport to pick you up."

"The room was hot as sin, had a fan and aircon never worked. Spring bed, old linen & Towels, water brown, took 10 min to heat up, no pressure. Breakfast on first morning terrible. Second morning much better. Asked for room with aircon and was moved. Much better than first impression I won't be returning. "

"This little gem truly has everything you could need. I had to book a night unexpectedly due to a transportation emergency and I was pleasantly surprised. The staff was welcoming even on a last minute reservation, the restaurant and pool areas were relaxing and the food was fantastic. The room was spacious, clean and in order as well. Spanish omelette for breakfast was one of the best I have had anywhere. If you need a place to stay that is convenient, clean, safe and welcoming in Lilongwe, book this place ! "

"I greatly enjoyed my time at the Residence for many reasons. Chawa picked me up from the airport. The fee to get into town was less than half the posted charge for taxis. Breakfast each day was both enormous and tasty. Dinner was likewise excellent. The bed was comfortable, which gave me long, deep sleeping. Chawa arranged tours of the town, and also to see the Chongoni Rock Art (a UNESCO site I wanted to visit). He could also arrange a trip to Lake Malawi and the beach. I feel certain they would make arrangements for whatever day trip you want. The location is not in the busy city center, rather, in the outskirts of town. That made the area peaceful and quiet (something I appreciate...no honking traffic to keep me awake). I already know where I plan to stay on my next trip to Lilongwe. "
