Old Town Rethymnon Hotels from S$74

"I booked based off the good reviews but unfortunately I didn’t have this experience. They put me in a room on the ground floor which had big windows that opened up wide enough for someone to easily climb through. The side gate was open so anyone could walk in off the street (they said it was closed but it was open the whole time I was there). Without opening this window, there was no natural light in the room. Being a solo female traveller, I didn’t feel safe being in this room so I asked to move. so they charged me an extortionate amount to upgrade rooms. They blamed me for not looking on their website, but I booked through Hotel.com and didn’t say anywhere that the room was on the ground floor. I’d already paid for the first room so I didn’t feel like I had any choice but to pay extra which felt sore because the hotel itself is very basic. The shower was so small I couldn’t even reach down and I also left my phone charger in one of the rooms when I checked out and they refused to give it back to me. Staff were rude and unfriendly. I could hear the hum of the fridge all night even with earplugs in. I also didn’t think the sheets or floors were very clean. I would advise avoiding this hotel if you want a stress free holiday. "

"The hotel rooms are above a popular taverna, with very loud music playing until 2am. If you are looking for a quiet place to stay, this is not it. "

"We had an amazing stay at this beautiful, stylish hotel. Our room was incredibly spacious, and the private deck offered a stunning view of the Mediterranean Sea. The breakfast was delicious with plenty of variety to choose from. The location is perfect, close to town but still peaceful, and the staff was exceptionally helpful with local restaurant recommendations and activity suggestions"

"Building, courtyard with pool, and rooms were very nice. Bathrooms however were not well maintained and showers had issues such as not having a mount on the wall to hold the shower head and not having shower curtain and plugged drains. The bathrooms desperately need to be updated. The breakfast was ok but other hotels we stayed at in Crete had much nicer breakfast selections. "

"Even though i had booked a ground floor studio we were placed upstairs because the manager thought it would be better for a family! I had booked the ground floor as I have mobility issues! The stairs were made of stone & had worn to different shapes which I found very difficult. We complained & had some money returned but this did not help with problems with the stairs! So my husband had to supervise me on the stairs. The room was nice but smaller than booked - nowhere to put clothes. The bed was very comfortable. However on the day of leaving there was no hot water!"

"Loved every second at this hotel. The staff are the stars of the show - nothing is too much trouble, aswell as the lovely new rooms, the gardens, the food, the view - outstanding. I don’t usually got to the same place twice but seriously thinking about coming again next year. "

"Beautiful place! Staff was very friendly! Rooms were cleaned everyday, and at night house keeping would come in and see if you needed more waters or towels. Only reason why I didn’t give it 5 stars was because breakfast was the same thing everyday, I stayed there for 11 nights, and after a few days I got tired of eating the same thing. It would be nice if they would change it up with different options. Also, Maybe try covering up the fruits because there was nats flying around and landing on the fruit which was gross. "

"It’s a pretty decent resort, but the overall feel is more tailored towards families with kids and less for romantic couples. Would recommend for families but couples seeking for a romantic time might want to look elsewhere."
