The old, traditional hotel I first experienced 40 years ago has been modernised and extended without losing any of its charm. Full marks for the ambiance, quality of food and service.

Great spot to stay for a more relaxed trip. Lovely older building (So rooms might not the most efficiently constructed), good and helpful staff. Offering lovely breakfast, simpler but nice dinners and even afternoon snacks. Making it for a good stay if you plan to hang around the hotel quite a bit during your trip. Located in a very quiet part of the city, with Trams and buses nearby and downtown in walkable distance.

Very nice looking hotel that is super close to a tram stop. There are restaurants and a couple convenience stores at the end of the block. The hotel feeds us a lot. A very nice breakfast buffet plus a sweet treat in the afternoon and a pretty nice dinner are free every day. Coffee, hot chocolate and tea were available 24/7. Rooms are nice. Small but normal for Europe. Everything worked and there was little to no noise at all from outside. They have fans available too. I sleep best to fan noise and they can provide one.

Oslo is a very beautiful, walkable city. The hotel is not far from the waterfront, the Royal Palace, Vigeland Gardens or most museums. I liked that there was always hot coffee and tea, especially very early in the morning.

Another lovely stay at Gableshus
Gableshus is a lovely hotel that has undergone a facelift Room was fine, like most Norwegian hotels the bed was a little soft for me but i got used to it. The location is excellent short walks to the best indian in oslo , a destination reaturant, souli plas . National theatre is 15 mins walk (10 for me ) and the no 13 Trik (tram) is Round the corner Itsa lovely quiet area minutes away from the centre of town Only negative, breakfast can get busy, more so when its raining and the 30 or so outside seatscsnt be used. They do also provide cake and coffee (Fika) at 3pm andan evening meal 6 to 8pm (we didn't try the evening meal) Free coffee throughout the day too

In the few minutes it took us to check in, we got a parking ticket cus the car was on the street in front of the hotel. Then we were told the few parking spaces the hotel has are all full and its our responsibility to know theres no parking allowed on the street. Eventually one of the girls behind the desk went outside to help...the parking machine was around the corner and not in sight of the hotel! In other words, if you have a car, find a different hotel.

Dear Paula!I am so sorry about this ticket, we will make sure the it is cancelled. Today we have talked with the city municipality and they will not give tickets there for cars stopping for 10 minutes. Our parking in the backyard is possible to book in advance, so if you ever where to try us again please contact us in advance for booking of a parking spot.

Very nice property and kind and helpful staff. However the wooden floor thresholds from one room to another ( dining area to reception) are slightly raised but no fluorescent tape or warning to watch your step. My friend took a hard fall when her sandal caught it. One cannot really see these and they are a tripping hazard. No safety bars or grab bars in bathroom for getting in and out of tub. Otherwise a very nice property.

We were appalled and laughing hysterically upon arriving to our room. Not only does the elevator not go up to the fifth floor, leaving us to haul our luggage up the stairs after a long train ride, but the rooms on the fifth floor feel as if they could have been left as an attic. My husband and I were on our honeymoon and did not find the room romantic at all. There was a beam running through the middle of it, causing us to bump our heads into it multiple times, and the bathroom was terribly small as well. The AC did not seem to work as well, making the room terribly hot and humid. We asked the front desk if they could put is into a different room and all they said was that they were completely booked and that they don't rent the fifth floor rooms out unless the hotel has no availability (we booked a month in advance). We DO NOT recommend this hotel, especially for couples on vacation. As a positive, the dinner was okay and the breakfast was good. These are really the only redeeming qualities the place had to offer during our stay.

The property is well maintained and the staff were all wonderful. We loved that our stay included a free dinner which we definitely took advantage of. Our meal was delicious. The only thing I wasn't happy with and this really is a small thing because I'm American and used to having it, is that there is no air conditioning or fans in any of the rooms. The only way to cool the room off is to open the window. Everything else was great!

Lovely hotel in Frogner
I LOVED this hotel! The location, the building itself. Easy to get places on the tram or walking. Staff were friendly and helpful with directions or recommendations. My room was a small single, but there was room for everything. The bathroom was clean and contemporary with a rainlike shower and dimmable mirror light. I opted for breakfast and dinner and was completely satisfied with the food. Very good salad options at dinner. The coffee machine was a big place. Places to work or read, inside and out all the time. Weather was great while I was there, which is out of their control, but added to the experience. I stayed for 7 days.

With the location of the hotel being just outside of the city with such easy assess to both the tram and bus services, you didnt need to be any closer. The hotel itself was not only clean and tidy, with good levels of restaurant services and the front of house staff were all incredibly helpful and polite which improved our experience.

Overall lovely stay at the property. Staff was great, and I was surprised to learn that both breakfast AND dinner were included in the price of my stay (I thought it was only breakfast). It's a generic buffet so nothing to write home about but it was very convenient to take a super fast 15 minute dinner in between some late meetings I needed to take in my hotel room. Very quiet location which is exactly what I needed. The hotel has construction going on some a number of amenities were closed to guests which was unfortunate. Very comfortable bed and generous desk working space. The shower would take 10 minutes to get hot water so plan accordingly (there is a note warning you in the bathroom). I also could never figure out the air conditioner (I tried every setting) so my room on ground level got too warm at times even though I had the drapes closed. Admittedly, I could have asked someone at the desk to help me with it but I never had "free time" to sort it out.

Lovely place with nice food
We enjoyed staying at this hotel and would like to stay there again. It was simple yet elegant. The food was great and the atmosphere was very relaxed and secluded. A perfect place to kick back and get some rest.

Quite with friendly staff
I had a short trip but i think hotel facilities was good and price was affordable. Even they had limitation due to Corona but breakfast had good variety, free coffee all the time but I missed the evening snack due to very late check in (after 9 pm). In overall I was happy with my stay

Okay Hotel
Okay historical hotel in the nicest area of Oslo. Near some of the best restaurants and a quick 10min walk to more central areas of the city. The hotel is in a quiet recidential area, however my room had a strange noise from inside the walls. Breakfast is small for a Norwegian hotel, but sufficient. The breakfast area is has a sad «sterile» design and needs a total makeover. The door locks were hideous and totally ruined the old doors. As an industy insider who spend 150 nights per year in hotels I also know they are the cheapest on the market and have been hacked multiple times in recent years. The hotel serves an evening meal included with your accommodation, which is a nice touch. Several of the public areas seemed to be closed off for private functions frequently, which means you may not be able to enjoy all areas during your stay.
