Seahorse Oceanfront Lodge
2/10 Terrible
"It was one of the wrost hotel i was going to stay at. We book ocean view with a fire place in the room and a balcony. The hot tub was not available the night we were going to stay. Was told we got upgraded room. It was not upgraded at all and it was on the first floor with no balcony no fire place. I did ask for a refund. When i did the staff was not very helpful and very rude. Needless to say my girlfriend and i will not stay there. "
"The room itself wasn’t anything spectacular considering it was pretty expensive for one night. The shower in the bathtub were a little dirty. The whole room is a little dirty to be honest. They were clumps of hair in the corners of the room. It almost looked like animal hair. The shower and the bathtub had stains in them. The whole reason why I booked this room was for the jet bathtub. I ended up not using the bathtub because it didn’t look very clean. There were no bottles of water in the room and even when I requested some, I was told that they didn’t offer that. I stated much cheaper hotels that offered a bottle water. The room didn’t even have a tissue box. Upon checking in, I asked if we could pay extra for a late checkout, and I was told that they could not accommodate that request. Not a huge deal but again for the cost, and the fact that I was willing to pay extra, I thought it was a little frustrating that they weren’t willing to budge at all. There is no breakfast served at this hotel. There isn’t even a little gift store where you can buy snacks. The staff is friendly enough. I didn’t want to give them a fantastic rating just due to the reluctance of allowing me an extra hour in the room. Nothing too horrible to notes, but again for the price, I will not be booking there again."
Elizabeth Oceanfront Suites, an Ascend Collection Hotel
10/10 Excellent
"It would be great to have a dedicated area for guests to eat the items provided for breakfast, and it would also be good not to advertise “free breakfast” when all you get is wrapped bagels, cereal and yogurt. "
"My previous stays at Ester Lee were adequate. The hotel was ancient and shabby, but it was run reasonably well and was a plausible alternative if better places were booked. That ended on this trip. I don't know if they have a new owner, but the place is now falling completely apart. The cottage I reserved did not have hot water. They said it would not be fixed soon so they replaced it with a small room on the bottom floor of the hotel. They refused to compensate me for the downgrade, claiming falsely they were the same price. I had just booked the cottage and saw the prices for different options so I knew that was false. One of the other buildings had boarded up windows. That is crazy. Whatever caused the collapse in facility maintenance and service makes it unsuitable for my travel needs. I will not be going back. The front desk employees complained about management ignoring maintenance needs. That is a major red flag for me."
"The only complaint i have is the room smelled like animal urine, they should have rooms that are pet free for people who do not have animals other than that the room was clean, staff was nice and friendly, and internet work perfectly. "
"We had a wonderful stay! The staff was incredibly friendly and truly went above and beyond by upgrading our romance package to include a jacuzzi suite, which made our visit extra special. Breakfast was great as well—on weekends they offered scrambled eggs, sausage, waffles, cereal, and muffins, while weekdays included hard-boiled eggs along with the other breakfast options. The lobby also had a nice selection of snacks and beverages available for purchase. One of my favorite touches was the beautiful little pond with flowers and a waterfall—it made the atmosphere so relaxing. We really enjoyed our stay!"
