Palermo Soho

Palermo Soho featuring street scenes
Discover outstanding shopping, exquisite dining and energetic nightlife in the trendiest and largest neighbourhood in Buenos Aires.

Exceptional shopping, exciting nightlife, beautiful parks and fine food and wine is what you can expect in the glamorous Palermo area of Buenos Aires. When you visit Buenos Aires, take the short journey to the neighbourhood of Palermo, located in the northeast of the city. It has attractive tree-lined streets and cobblestone alleyways and there is plenty to see and do there both day and night. Palermo is trendy, hip and happening – 'the place to be seen'. This is historically an area where the rich and famous choose to live and it's where many embassies are located today.

For travellers, Palermo Soho and Palermo Hollywood are two must-visit locations.

Palermo Soho is brimming with charm and character, known for its shopping, fashionable bars, cafés and restaurants. It’s a great spot to spend the day strolling and exploring. Soho is a busy place, buzzing with activity. In between discovering the local and international designers and brands on offer in the many boutiques and galleries, it's highly recommended to just sit and relax at one of the many outdoor cafés and bars for some serious people-watching.

In the Soho area you’ll find the Plaza Serrano, which boasts an outdoor market at the weekend selling handmade jewellery, arts and crafts. Popular with the young and trendy, Plaza Serrano has a bohemian feel, with many a café and restaurant to be found in the refurbished low-rise buildings surrounding the Plaza.

The centrally located Palermo Hollywood - so named because the area is home to film, TV and radio studios and producers. Many films have been shot in its streets, taking advantage of the backdrop of the beautiful old houses and apartments. During the day, explore the many shops offering an extensive range of clothing, home wares and eclectic antique and modern furniture.

At Palermo Viejo or 'Old Palermo', you’ll encounter some of the oldest buildings and architectural styles in Buenos Aires. Like elsewhere in Palermo, there are plenty of shops and places to grab a bite to eat.

Tree-lined Santa Fe Avenue (Avenida Santa Fe) runs through Palermo. The Buenos Aires Zoo, the Botanical Garden and the Plaza Italia are all located on Sante Fe Avenue, as are upmarket restaurants and shopping destinations.

You can get to Palermo on the Metro D line as well as by one of the bus lines that run into Plaza Italia.
