5/5 Excellent
"Beautiful boutique hotel in an old building with art deco style. Lovely historic location, under 20 minutes to anywhere in Baltimore including the airport.
The room was clean, amenities were thoughtfully selected, and the view of the Washington Monument was spectacular.
The rooftop restaurant was so delicious and had awesome views of the city the speakeasy downstairs (find the jukebox!) was a nice touch too. Likewise, breakfast & coffee at the Dashery was quite tasty (I had the brioche egg sandwich and an iced mocha).
Staff was very helpful and friendly.
My only qualm was that I 1) couldn't find the ice machine on my floor (9), and 2) the water pooled a bit on the tile in the shower and I have a phobia of getting a toenail issue from standing water in public showers because people can be gross. I'll place blame on whoever laid the tile (slanted away from the drain??) rather than the hotel in this case -- there were no drainage issues, and the water pressure & temperature were both great.
I (34F) went for a solo walk around 9pm on a weeknight and the neighborhood of Mount Vernon was still buzzing with vibrant locals! There were people playing chess in the park by the monument, and I struck up a conversation with group of friendly women sitting on their stoop having a smoke. I never once got a bad vibe or felt threatened in this area, although as a native NYer I'm likely a little more aware/vigilant than most.
I will absolutely be back next time I'm in Baltimore!"
