"I never really had the chance to stay at the Comfort Inn in Springfield. I made the reservation late the night before while on the road and entered the date incorrectly, mistakenly using the default current date that was only good for an hour. When I arrived, I was told of my mistake and tried to correct it though Hotels.com with no success. It was my mistake, but I lost the 126.00 charge and was offered a room at 180.00 "if I was still interested" in staying at the Comfort Inn. The thought of being charged well over $300.00 total for one nights stay was absurd and an insult. I understand the policy is an industry-wide practice, but the cost of a "fully refundable" room is often more than I am willing to pay and I'm forced into gambling on nothing like an illness or other schedule change occurring and costing me a charge I can't afford. It was my mistake this time, but I will no longer patronize any hotel with such policies as well as Hotels.com, Expedia, or any third-party reservation services in the future. I'm tired of the extortion."
"Excellent property. Definitely playing above its weight among hotels in the price range. Front office staff was outstanding. Property and rooms very clean. Only possible issue might be for short folks. Bathroom sink was several inches higher than norm, even for typical higher bathroom counters."
"This was one of the best hotels we have ever stayed at. The suite was clean, spacious, and comfortable. There was a lot of storage space, and parking was convenient and mostly plentiful (we had to park around back one night, but we got a space close to the back door). We didn't have time to take advantage of breakfast or the food and drink specials in the evening. The only negatives, and I had to be super nitpicky to come up with any, are (1) there is not a light near the full-length mirror and (2) navigating the TV remote was not very easy."
"To be honest, this hotel has some character to it, which was nice. The staff was nice and courteous, and tolerant of a traveler who was very tired, and just wanted things to be easy. When I arrive at 10:00 PM, there was literally no restaurants open except for Domino’s Pizza, who wanted to charge me $40 for a large pizza, and deliver it two hours later. In a room that had a jet tub, there were only two towels… The entire room was tile, and there was no TV in the bedroom. I liked the hotel, and the motif of route 66, and if I was in a better mood, I would’ve had a good time there. So part of this problem with me, and part of the problem with the actual property. I would actually stay there again!"
"Having a handicap accessable room, was not set up for this label. There was a tub with one security bar and was in a good location, but none in the tub. The towels were on a shelf in the tub and set 6 feet high. I am 5' making it nearly impossible to reach safely. Same with the shampoo and soap dispensers, they were set too high for me to reach easily. Everything else was good, but the tub/shower was truly a fall hazard for me."
