Perdido Beach Boulevard

TIP: The Gulf Coast (known by some locals as the "Redneck Riviera") offers sugar-white sand and typically gentle waters, which make it THE vacation spot for folks from all over the southeast. So, my hot tip is to hit the coast in late August or early September. Schools in this part of the country start back up in early August, so if you wait you can avoid the crowds. Off-season, baby!

TIP: Want a REALLY special moment at the beach? If you have the resolve, try hitting the beach for SUNRISE, rather than hanging around for sunset. There may be a few other die-hard sunrise fans around, but it's usually way more private than at sunset. Of course, it depends upon which way the beach faces and where the sun rises at that time of year. But I think if you try it, you'll be hooked!
