"First of all, this place is a joke. It felt like the “ghetto of getaways.” From the moment we arrived, we noticed trash everywhere. Cigarette butts, bags, bottles—you name it. It’s clear they either don’t take pride in the property or simply don’t care. We stayed in the Champagne Towers and the room was just okay, at best. The bigger issue was that nothing worked. The fridge didn’t get cold, light switches didn’t work, the tubs were chipped, and the list goes on. For the price we paid, it was shocking how run down everything was. And DO NOT use the fireplace. It will smoke the entire room out. I should have realized this sooner based on the piles of half-burnt logs scattered outside the doors. I counted at least five or six—clearly other guests had the same experience and had to throw them out before the room filled with smoke. The first night we paid $100 for dinner, which was a huge mistake. We sat for 15 minutes before being acknowledged, and they weren’t even busy. Meanwhile, the staff in the back were laughing and carrying on. When our server finally came over, she forgot our drinks, forgot the bread, and the food took forever. By the time it arrived, we were ready to leave. We were also not allowed to take the food back to our room, and the explanations we were given made no sense. One staff member claimed it was because dinner was “all you can eat” (it’s not). Another said it was because there are no microwaves in the rooms and the food couldn’t be reheated properly "

"Despite the lobby and ground floor being renovated, the rest of the hotel was nicely, updated, including the rooms and lounge area for breakfast. The complementary breakfast was excellent, especially on the weekend. And despite a holiday, there was plenty of staff and their service was attentive and friendly. The hotel location in the middle of downtown is excellent providing lots of food, bars, and shopping nearby. There is also plenty of entertainment in downtown. This is a great old hotel that found its place a long time ago in the heart of Stroudsburg and is on a big comeback. We would definitely come back to stay there and look forward to completion of the renovations."
