Nice value, walkable neighborhood
Warm welcome in the quiet offseason with great offseason pricing. Kitchenette has lots of counter space and equipment. The room was very spacious, a good spot to unpack and repack. Furnishings and look a little dated, but all functional. Manager very friendly and helpful with area information.

Room for Improvement.
Hastily booked for 4 nights owing to places becoming scarce for the time we wanted in the wake of the Monarch collapse. Reviews of the Mariela were overwhelmingly good and not just of the 'owners friends' type. The price was very low so our expectations were not high but even so, Mariela was disappointing. It could be that Block C apartments were of a different standard from those in Blocks A and B but we didn't stay long enough to find out, leaving after one night.

Value for money and well placed
Had a lovely holiday in Mariella apartments in Polis and its surrounds. The owners were amazing, seemed to be available on hand 24 hours a day and obviously very well known to their regular clients. Expedia's description of the facilities in this hotel is wrong as there were no tablets or cabled internet or dvd in apartments but at such a reasonable cost I really wasn't expecting any. It also was a least an hour from Pathos. The apartments and public areas were as expected - a bit shabby and could do with a really good deep clean and spruce up. However, the facilities were adequate for our needs, and in fact I was pleasantly surprised we had a TV and hairdryer along with plenty of (UK 3 pin) plug sockets. The sheets and towels were tidied every day and changed several times during our week there and we noted housekeepers very hard at work cleaning windows etc.

For the price we paid the apartment did it's job, the room was basic but clean and tidy, as it was out of session it was also quiet which suited us. I booked a family room as we where there for a biking weekend and the room had plenty of space to accommodate these

Central to town and close to beach
Our room was very basic and this is reflected in the price we paid. However, the owners make you feel very welcome and our room was cleaned daily, except Sundays, and bed linen and towels were changed regularly.

Very spacious room with balcony, they even gave me a welcome drink and let me check out much later since I had a night flight!

Returned customer that will not visit again
They gave us AC remote controls at checking without informing us that there was a charge. When we were trying to checkout there was an extra charge of 40 euros for the ACs. When we ask why they did not inform us during check in they said that it mentioned in the site that we booked. After it was mentioned to me and check the site, I did find that at the end of a very long page. However, still they had to inform me when they gave me the remotes. However, the worst was the attitude at the reception. She was acting like I was trying to steal from her. I was a returning customer to the hotel but will not go there again due to their attitude and not about the extra charges.

Pleasant Stay - Happy Stuff
very pleasant - The Hotel was in a good location, close to everything. The room was spacious and clean and stuff was more than willing to help us with everything! Mariela Hotel will always be my first choice on a getaway at Polis Chrysochou.

Great little place
Very friendly little hotel very basic but reflected in the price if your looking for a little base this is the place the beds and little small and I'm 6.3 so feet hang out the bottom. It's cleaned each day and is great all in all. I would certainly return here and it's so reasonably priced I paid 160 euros for 8 nights I have seen it a little cheaper but I was happy with that. Hope this helps people decide

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the mariela. Panbos and eleni (if I have mispelt either - apologies) went out of their way to please us. They were friendly, knowledgable and helpful. The hotel room was spacious, well laid out and clean. There are two pools - one for children - both quite large and clean, a pool bar and tables and chairs for drinks and snacks and chatting. We met people returning for the 24th time. I think that tells you everything really

Convenient hotel
We stayed for 3 days in the first week of November 2014. Everything we had read about the place seemed to praise it. When we stayed it seemed as if it was closing down. It's big but we never saw more than another couple-we didn't mind that. But the whole place had a shabby air and much had not been maintained. We had a spacious apartment that was kept clean. But the effect of poor workmanship was depressing.e.g. Electrical wires hanging down the wall, paintwork splashed over tiles, loose toilet seat, appalling lighting in the lounge area which made it impossible to read in the evening. I drew attention of this to the cleaner but clearly she had no intention of reporting it. A knob was missing off a bedside drawer. The two divans in the lounge were past their best. All in all it was though the owners had just given up. The crowning moment was when we checked out and tried to pay-by credit card as arranged. Their machine "wouldn't work" and conveniently they could only accept cash. Not very convenient for us as we had to visit the bank and use a credit card -and we all know how much more expensive that is! Oh and my wife hated the bed which was rock hard!

Owners very friendly, helpful and kind. Hotel basic but everything you need. Very clean. Food nice. Loved the pool. Clientele were older people but really nice and friendly. Were younger family's. Resident Tom was very helpful.

Fantastic experience
The staff were very welcoming and couldn't do more for you. We were welcomed with cold drinks and cake, the room was spacious and clean, breakfast was continental or cooked and very reasonable in price. Would highly recommend.

You get what you pay for, basis accommodation if all you're looking for is to get your head down. Room cleaned/mopped daily. Beds made towels changed etc. Nice patio area outside for chilling in the evening with a bottle of wine. Overall would recommend , happy with our stay. The owners Pambos & Elaina are very nice welcoming people :-)

One gets what you pay for. Cheap price means a towel (no hand towel), a bar of soap (no shampoo), a kettle (no tea or coffee). Room was ok and I had shampoo and coffee - far from plush but the price was unbeatable.

Fabulous staff, great location
Welcome drink on arrival, friendly hotel staff,location close to a supermarket and numerous restaurant options. The 1 bed apartment was clean, and had more than enough room for a family with 2 children. Pool was clean and well maintained. Children were delighted to find they had wifi (parents were delighted it was free!) Highly recommend, and look froward to staying again. Prices were very reasonable and service was better than i could have imagined for the price we were paying.

Great hotel in good location in Polis, close to Latsi and Aphrodites bath. Supermarket and beach within walking distance. Greeted with a drink and cake on arrival the owners were very welcoming. Room was fine had good enough amenities, no oven though. Would recommend.

A good centally located apart/hotel
My husband & I have just spent 6 nights at the Mariela, which is centally located in Polis & within easy walking distance of the square & all it's restaurants. There is a large fully stocked supermarket with 3 minutes walk away. We had a pool facing one bedroom apartment which was very spacious & clean & had sufficient crockery, cooking pans, cutlery, toaster oven & hob to knock up a decent meal. The hosts of this family run hotel, Pambos & Eleni were so helpful yet not intrusive. There were some folk from the UK that had been 9 times as they felt it was home from home but with the sun, good service & no housework!! ......A car is necessary to get to the beach at Latchi which although only 2 kms away is too far to walk in the heat of June/July & Aug.....Latchi has a lovely harbour with restaurants, sea sport amenities & a laid back athmosphere... The drive up the coastal road to Kato Pygros is well worth it as it passes Paphos Forest & some pretty terrain..........The nature trail at the Baths of Aphrodite is a must with wonder views & so close to the car park & a good restaurant with views that are amazing........ there is no satellite TV in the rooms & most channels were in Greek, but there is EuroNews in English, & free WiFi is on site.The snacks in the outside cafe are inexpensive as are the beers & wine & there is a large indoor seating area...If you want a relaxing, centrally based clean accommodation then we recommend it & are definately going back llater this year.

A good hotel
The hotel is in a very good location and it's quite clean. The furniture is slightly old though and perhaps the area around the entrance doors to the different blocks could be cleaned to make it look nicer. Overall though it's a good hotel and value for money if you need a clean place to stay.

Genuine friendly welcome, help and advice available. We stayed in the apartment section with a balcony. It was spacious apartment for 2 and was clean and regularly maintained, also we had included access to a swimming pool, wifi and car parking.

EXCELLENT VALUE AND FRIENDLY OWNERS
I had an excellent time at this hotel. Was greeted by the owner with a free drink and a guide to the hotel, bus timetable and maps so I could go and explore. Nothing was too much trouble to organise or find out about - great as a single traveller. Rooms are a little dated but perfectly clean and really spacious with good cooking facilities. Central location in this gorgeous small town and only 20 mins walk to the beach although the hotel pools were clean and very good too. Don't pay for a taxi, get the bus from Paphos as it's only 1 euro and just as quick! Had a lovely time and hope to return

I stayed in Mariela hotel from 01/10 to 09/10/11. My room was basic but very clean. Hotel seemed quiet (no screaming teenagers). There is a lot of regulars (mostly British) who come there every year. 20 minutes walk to the beach. Big supermarket just 2 minutes from the hotel - very handy as there's a little cooker in the room so you can prepare your own meals. Access to internet in the reception area. Very close to city centre and restaurants. Owner/manager is a very nice guy. I would recommend this hotel to anyone who wants decent hotel with down to earth price.

Mariela - great value for money, good spot
We only stayed for 1nt as we on our way to a private apartment. We were given a room right over the pool, nice and big with all the basic requirements. The owner was a first class host - he was friendly, attentive and even bought us a drink! We had a lovely lunch both days and had no problems staying on a bit longer on the day we checked out. The rooms are basic but clean. The pool area was lovely - quite oldy-worldly and quirky. Big pool too and my son had a good time. Very quiet, surprisingly for the time of year (late July) so we had some lovely peace and quiet too. Great value for money, very nice people running the place.

Very friendly and welcoming hotel, pool was lovely, owners very helpful and welcoming, apartments clean and comfortable. Convenient location - Polis lovely quiet small town with good choice of restaurants, and a short walk to the beach. We hope to go back soon, and would choose the Mariela again - it was very good value.

Family owned warm cozy hotel
Room seemed aged,but fully equipped with all kitchen materials. Wifi was working fine. Air conditioner controlable. Hot waters temp was not very adjustable, it felt cold a little in winter. Located in the centre of the town and easy to get to and from the main bus stop of polis. Stayed in winter and it seemed I was the only one guest, but I felt welcomed and as they offered cakes and juice and other stuff which looked almost everything in their refrige.
