Hyatt Place St. Augustine/Vilano Beach
5/5 Excellent
"I can say we really thought our stay at Hyatt Place in Vilano beach was very good. The room was clean and they put a microwave oven in the room for us upon request. We had just a short walk to the beach and having a Publix grocery store just across the street made it really convenient to pick up anything we needed. We actually bought two beach chairs because the ones we brought broke on us. The breakfast each morning was great even though you had to pay $11 per person it was well worth it to me just for the two or three cups of coffee I like to drink each day.
The only negative thing we have to say about our hotel was the parking. Unless you pay for valet service which is $25 a day. If you are there during the busy season finding public parking nearby is difficult but we managed to always find a place to park without having to pay though we did have a long walk one evening and worried a little about our car being so far away. On Saturdays and Sundays when people are coming to Vilano beach public parking is very hard to find.
We do recommend eating at Surfside which is a little diner across the street which had surprisingly good food.
We found out Vilano beach has beautiful white sand but St. Augustine beach at least the part we saw which was near a long fishing pier was ugly grey looking sand.
If you want an enjoyable hotel which is just a 5 minute drive from the old-town historical district you can't go wrong with Hyatt Place on Vilano beach."
