"We had a wonderful room, 1 bedroom suite, with patio looking over the Michigan Lake. The maid service wasn't automatically done each day but if you needed something you could call them 24/7. We had plenty of everything, so we had no need to contact them. Very clean room.
We did have a little problem with our check in; our key didn't work and when we went back to the front desk, they said they had given us the wrong room. So, they gave us keys for the new room, but when we went there and walked in, we were greeted by people who were staying in that room. It was very embarrassing for all of us, but the people were very understanding. Went back to the front desk, and found the first room they gave us was the correct room but the lady at the desk had the other room on her mind and set up the key for that room, (The room which was already occupied,)
We finally got into our room and everything was wonderful after that."
"This is an older property that was originally a lodge surrounded by a golf course. The golf property must have been sold off in the past, so the lodge remains. The front desk staff was personable and helpful. The room was HUGE. All the furnishings were vintage (and not in the good way). The bathroom was very dimly lit, but functional. The breakfast had make-to-order eggs and all of the other usual offerings. The AC was very quiet and the plumbing also quiet. They lock the lobby at night so late check-in might not be an options. If you are the type that likes everything contemporary, this is not the place for you. If you want a comfortable and very functional stay, consider this lodge. See Cave Point Park while you are there!"
"The room was clean and had a small kitchen (very useful), but the hairdryer only blew cool air, the staff was nowhere to be seen at check in or out, and the room faced east with no room darkening shades (very uncomfortable)."
The River Hills Motel - Algoma, WI - Near Door County
8/10 Good
"This was a cute motel. Check-in was contactless, which was a bit confusing for my family and me. It was conveniently located near Lake Michigan and the beach there. Parking is right in front of the room, which is very convenient."
"Staff were helpful and friendly, answered all of my many questions. They were available throughout the day.
Room was clean upon arrival.
We were given a briefing of the property at check-in and a listing of things to do in the surrounding area.
The outdoor grills also worked well.
We have stayed at this resort each of the 3 times that my family has gone to Door County since 2018 and it has always been extremely pleasant."
