My family stayed at the Priory Resort Hotel in Dongara/ Port Denison and we loved it! It is an old place and has character. The early settlers built it as a pub, then it was a Catholic Girls College and Nunnery, and now it is used for travellers. We enjoyed sitting on the wide wooden verandahs, having breakfast or a cup of tea/ coffee and basking in the warm winter sun. The wife and kids didn't want to leave and are keen to return someday!

Thank you very much - the staff love working here too.
Trip was a good one but the direction on their map was not good since the main point of direction to the road turn off was nonexistent. The hotel is very run down and needs lots of TLC.
We arrived from Kalbarri and checked in, the room was ok but the complete building was a ghost house and very dirty and not as nice as shown on wotif. Didn't end up staying at the place and drove further to Perth for the night.

We just stayed the one night, the hotel is old but comfortable. Our room was nice and quiet with a nice host
It was as expected. We booked a family room, with shared bathroom. The women's bathroom was accross from our room, very convenient since 2/3 of our party are female. Comfy beds. Only negatives were the sound of the door slamming to the common areas. Also it was raining, and there was a drop in the gutter to the ground just outside our room. Nothing some drainpipe wouldn't fix.
Dongara Port D is handy stopover driving north from Perth. This former priory feels quite outbacky and some parts are dilapidated, yet just off main highway and good standard of decor & facilities within. Good dining in the bar.

A nice enjoyable & comfortable stay in a quiet part of town. Good food.
The priory is a great place to spend a night or two. The accommodation part has been restored well and the pub is the old fashioned cosy type. The staff are friendly and helpful, the food is typical pub style but cooked well. I will be visiting again.
A Resort it isn't thankfully. The Priory is a delightful old historic building with attitude in a unique part of WA. Rooms are comfortable with the best showers I've seen for a while and the water was hot. I found the the staff welcoming throughout my 3 day stay, they were really great and receptive to my needs. I recommend the Priory and the surrounds for a relaxing stay.

It was lovely to have you here Maria and we do hope to see you again
We stayed in April for the evening during our travels.
The building is history outstanding and is kept in as close to the old tradition as they can.
The staff were delightful.
They have a wonderful friendly dog (Lolly) who my granddaughter adored and bless the dog she put up with all the cuddles my granddaughter dished out.
The pool was lovely and clean and partly shaded.
The grounds are fantastic to walk around, sit out in the sun with a book, lay on a towel on the grass
Close to the township
Couldn't sing their praises louder

Great old building with loads of character. Perfect pub and food during our stay.
We enjoyed knowing what had been the past of this old building. We did arrive following a big weekend there so things were not as usual but having adjusted our room which was not the advertised size according to your booking (we paid the extra) for abigger room and with a downstairs location we were quite happy. They gave us local info as the hotel was not serving meals that night and the bar closed early but that was all OK with us. The bed was huge and the room old but clean enough.
Lovely historic building with enormously high ceilings and beautiful polished floorboards. Shared bathroom facilities which were very clean. Nice fluffy towels - and separate towels for the pool.
The Priory is not without some charm. The frontage of this historic building makes an imposing statement. So too does the lovely central staircase and the beautiful verandahs. But what disappointed us was that behind the façade was really primitive accommodation. Our room (#21) was small and very, very basic. Admittedly we had ensuite facilities but they were basic as well. The bed was uncomfortable, the linen old (little 'balls' on the sheets) and the pillows were soft and thin. We spent the Saturday night there and perhaps the fact that the Royal Show had started that weekend in Perth would account for the fact that there weren't many people staying there. Having read the comments of others, I have come to the conclusion that they had obviously discovered something we completely missed! We came up to see the wildflowers and looked forward to staying in this beautiful old building. It is not something we would do again.
Such a shame that this historic building is not in good repair. Facilities definitely in need of some tender loving care. Beds were comfy but the lounge should be turfed out and the whole place needs painting inside and out. Bathroom was very poky and had nowhere to put clothes, toiletries, etc. We paid $120 for the night at the Priory Lodge but our next apartment in Kalbarri was modern and very comfy and cost only $115pn. No comparison!

Too much money. Food was below average. I paid $220 for a night dinner and bfast. The quality was sub standard. We were disappointed.
Facilities: Tired, Old; Value: Over-priced, Could be better; Service: Polite; Cleanliness: Dirty, shower had mould;
I hope the owners can fix the old place up, it needs a lot of work and if done the building would be a show piece
Facilities: Basic; Value: Fair price; Service: Amateur; Cleanliness: Clean;
Fantastic potential, however owners are focussed on the pub only not accommodation/functions
Facilities: Shabby; Value: Unreasonable, Poor conditiion; Service: OK - Felt sorry for her; Cleanliness: Ants - dust broken blinds;
I paid ofr my mum & sisters room and the stay was very disappointing and poor value for money.
Facilities: Tired, Old, with some character; Value: Over-priced, communal bath & kitchen; Service: Friendly; Cleanliness: Tidy, Neat;
Not the place for a romantic getaway or extended stay, but fine for an 'overnighter' on the way to somewhere else.
