"I was attending a course in the leisure centre next door. The Aqua was an excellent, relaxed place to stay. The staff/owners were polite, friendly and generated a relaxed atmosphere. The small, well stocked bar carried on this relaxing, informal atmosphere. (The squeaky bar stools could do with fixing but were still amusing) The food is top notch and very affordable. The cooked breakfast (Included) is amazing and you can select as little or as much as you want. Lovely coffee as well. Cereal and toast is also available and I enjoyed the relaxed serve yourself arrangement. Helga, was on hand to make sure you had everything you needed and was very friendly and approachable. You can take a walk to the highest point in Portland (490 feet above sea level) to take in breathtaking views and sunsets. (A bus is also available as it's quite a walk!) My room was clean and tidy and all I need in a stay. A comfortable bed and shower. TV reception was very poor, giving only a handful of channels, but this didn't really affect me as I don't go to places to sit in hotel rooms watching TV. The Aqua is a great place to relax and enjoy great food and drink. I liked the informal, laid-back atmosphere as this added to the relaxation. This, plus the attentive, friendly staff, made my stay very enjoyable. I would certainly stay at The Aqua again. "

" The cottage is sited on a steep and narrow street, a word of warning if you have a large car you will not be able to park your car at the front of the property as it is simply too tight and steep to parallel park. Lots of free parking nearby but first come first served and one evening we had to leave car parked at a free car park next to Chissel beach, which was a 15 minute walk to property. The cottage was nice and cosy for our family but a few unpleasant details on arrival, firstly the clean prior to our visit was not up to standard for the price of the property, we had hairs on the shower mat and the shower did not drain very well, the floors were not cleaned properly so would recommend some indoor footwear. Also the plates and bowls were not cleaned after the previous guests. The table also needed wiping as was sticky and 2 of the chairs were split so had to use cushions so we didn’t get nipped, there was bird poo on one of the inside chairs, which again we had scrape off so we could use the chair. So rather than a first evening of relaxing we were cleaning the property as we had no communication from the owner over the bank holiday weekend. When we did get a response we were asked if we would like another clean but was too late as we had already cleaned; the shower blockage was repaired in the end (before our last evening) .We would suggest some form of air freshener or air purifier as the property has an old musky smell. Positives, nice area, nice patio, cosy."

"Working on business on the island for a few days, and this made a great location to work from. Thankfully the weather was good and evening cliffside walks to the Bill and down to the Sculpture park were great. The property has parking and internet but was a little slow. Hot tub out of action during my stay. Its a quite residential area. The house all nice and clean with enough amenities to cook, wash etc. Bedding and towels all clean, but i'd take your own shower gel etc. "

"Bed was not comfy as we had backache after second night , we turned mattress round was ok that night but the after that . The step into the shower was too high and we had to buy a step to get in it and also the floor surface was very slippy . Was ck an and tidy and overall not a bad place to stay and would recommend and return at some point "
