Simpelt the best service, nice rooms, great terrass, super nice gym with the latest equipment. View and location is great. Make sure to park your car outside and they will park it for you.

The hotel is gorgeous, with vintage and modern decorations. We were upgraded to a room with a balcony when we arrived, which was a lovely surprise. The room was absolutely fine in size, not massive, but I’m from London, so I know that European hotel rooms are generally small. The staff are very professional, in particular one of the young ladies who served the drinks by the pool in the afternoons and evenings, who was very funny, and attentive. Breakfast choice was plentiful, different fresh juices every day, fresh fruit, hot food and pastries. You could also order from a menu with omelettes, pancakes etc. The location is amazing, over on the Gaia side, about 200m from the main bridge, so we were in a perfect position for both Porto centre, and the port house side. The only criticisms I had were:The pool is very small; I was aware of this from the description and the photos when booking. It’s shallow, and perfect for just cooling off after a day of sightseeing. However, if there are families with kids, it is disruptive with splashing and screaming in a small space. There are only 8 seats, and at one point a family of 7 people had every seat. One afternoon, the hotel decided to do a model shoot in the pool, which meant we couldn’t use it, but didn’t say anything to any of the guests, they just arrived and started taking pictures. I would also check the schedule of WOW Porto nearby, as on Friday night they had a mass karaoke event until 1am and it was incredibly loud!

We had a room with a balcony overlooking the Douro. The hotel is on the south side of the river, almost in the shadow of the Luis 1 bridge, with a gorgeous view of Porto proper. Good bed, pillows, robes and towels. The only real issue was that the room itself was quite small. Nice shower but otherwise a tight bathroom. The staff was universally well-motivated and helpful. I renew my frequent complaint about 'innovations' in light switches and thermostats. The light switches were, for reasons that defy logic, twist knobs. Twist left for toilet, twist right for shower, twist again to turn off. Why? And the thermostat was ridiculous, tiny, confusing graphics on a dim postage stamp sized LED screen. To all hotel architects and designers: the only thing you should concern yourselves with is the ease of the guest. Red arrow for heat up, blue arrow for cold down, fan higher or lower. That's it. Simple buttons. Stop being clever, your guests do not want a tutorial in lights switches and thermostats.

I didn’t realize when I booked this stay that our hotel was on the Gaia side of the river facing Porto. We ended up loving that. It looked out over Porto and was a 5 minute walk across the river, but had the peace and tranquility of being a little apart from the center of the tourists. The staff was so friendly. The breakfast was great. The place was beautiful. I wish we had planned to stay longer!

Exceptional property, location, staff. Beautifully designed, well maintained. Extremely friendly and capable team throughout the property. The views and vantage point are picture perfect. Great starting point for exploration or great place to spend time if you aren’t in a rush to go anywhere. Breakfast was great as well. Overall a very special place.

We enjoyed our stay at Origine. Our room was very comfortable, especially the bed. The bathroom had lots of counter space, which is important for me. The turndown service and welcome sweets were lovely, and the coffee in the room was excellent. This hotel has a very nice breakfast area and a great location which puts you in the center of everything.

We booked back in January but got a 2nd-floor room right by the road, which gets noisy once morning traffic starts—keep that in mind if you're a light sleeper. I’d recommend asking for a higher floor. This might be due to booking via Hotels.com; it might have been a different story booking directly. I’d give it 4.5 out of 5 if I could, because 4 stars feels too low. The 2nd-floor rooms should honestly be listed as "partial river view" since the road is right there. That being said, the hotel is almost perfect.

The room was very clean and the staff were all incredible! The views were more than I expected & pictures truly don’t do it justice. We were walked up and shown our room and the air conditioning was already on which was perfect as it was a very hot day outside. They have parking which is a bit hidden however the bell boy walked us through it and even met us there to bring out suitcases inside. HIGHLY recommended this hotel
