Poverty Point National Monument

Largest Mound located at Monumental Earthworks at Poverty Point in Louisiana. This is an UNESCO World Heritage Site (since 2014).

Monumental Earthworks at Poverty Point was inscribed into list of UNESCO World Heritage Sites in 2014. It consists of 5 mounds and 6 concentric ridges created in 3700-3100 BC. While it’s difficult to appreciate the entire site from the ground, the platform leading up to the largest mound gives visitors a good vantage point.
