The Lanhoso Castle, Located in Póvoa de Lanhoso, is regarded as one of the most imposing castles in Portugal. Built on top of the Pilar Hill - the largest granite monolith in the country, the Castle was very important regarding the conquest and formation of the Kingdom of Portugal.

It was classified as National Monument in 1910.

"Our 3 nights stay here was incredible. The owner is open and friendly, warm and welcoming. The room is immaculate, with attention to detail and a complimentary bottle of Vinho Verde. The pool is well situated, clean and warm in the evening. The breakfast is a fantastic spread of traditional and contemporary foods (their daily cake is to die for!). "Lovely hotel, staff extremely friendly and helpful.. Room clean and spacious (no pun intended), with some nice personal welcoming touches in room.. Amble storage for a short stay.. Breakfast is plentiful, good standard and choice.. Nicely located, close to town centre, shops, bars and restaurants etc.. All in all, a very nice hotel one that I’d definitely like to come back too.."

"Wonderful hotel. One of the best I’ve stayed in, in Europe. Think I got an upgrade, stayed on 11th floor, room was massive with stand alone bath, and seperate shower. Mini bar, coffee machine, kettle, complimentary water, and apples in the hall. Only had breakfast one day as had to leave early on second morning, due to Storm Ingrid. But breakfast was great, buffet with huge selection of hot & cold items. Definitely a 5 star hotel"
