"Property is an actual retreat, so keep that in mind while booking. Car is almost a must, 4x4 highly recommended but not you can make it there with smaller cars (not that small). The place is very nice, property seems very new. I would definitely come again."

"Playa Cativo Lodge is a wonderful place and the accommodations, food and staff were absolutely perfect. It was nice to be so close to the gulf which was calm, warm, sandy and perfect for swimming. My only complaint was that the entire front area of the lodge has been landscaped with grass and ornamental plants, many of which are not native. Because of this large open area few birds or animals come near the lodge. Bird watching was disappointing compared to lodges that have left the rainforest...

"We booked this hotel for a quick stay after a long days bus ride. At time of booking a message was sent to management letting them know that our arrival to the hotel would be late as there was a lengthy bus ride and as the expedia app explained late check in was available as per availability whatever that means. The hotel responded a little later that late check in would not be possible and sorry for the inconvenience. Inconvenience? We were only a few hours from our destination at this point...

"It is a true rare gem. A wonderful lodge in the middle of the jungle. Our villa was spacious. It has two huge rooms and a giant porch where we saw monkeys. I was grilling to the sound of howler monkeys. The owners are a young Danish couple who are welcoming and helpful. They are building a big pool which is going to be ready in the next few weeks. "A little piece of heaven. Very close to the Corcovado National Park, you can walk there. Everyday we would go on a hike, as soon as you walk out of the hotel you start seeing monkeys and all sorts of wildlife. Heck, you don't even need to leave the hotel. We had a group of scarlet macaws constantly hanging out in a tree right outside our room. And a brave little monkey paid a visit one day as well. The food prepared by Chef Coco was amazing! Everything was sourced locally and made from scratch....

"Our stay at Lapa Rios was unforgettable from the moment we arrived. Staff were waiting for us as we got off the ferry in Puerto Jiménez, and after a scenic drive to the lodge, we were welcomed with tropical drinks and warm, personal greetings. The attention to detail and level of service throughout our stay were exceptional. We stayed in the Matapalo Suite, which was private, luxurious, and exactly as pictured online. Set deep in the rainforest with panoramic views of the ocean and jungle, it was an incredible place to relax—and the A/C was a lifesaver during the hot, humid rainy season. We often saw monkeys playing right outside our suite, and woke each morning to the calls of howler monkeys. Dining was another highlight. The food was fresh, varied, and well-prepared, and the staff worked hard to accommodate dietary needs—including gluten-free options for one of our group. We also went on several guided hikes led by fantastic naturalists who helped us spot wildlife and made the treks fun and informative, even for our 80-year-old family member. What really sets Lapa Rios apart is the level of care from the entire team. From organizing personalized activities to making sure we were comfortably checked in for our return flight, every detail was handled with professionalism and warmth. Lapa Rios is the perfect mix of eco-adventure and luxury, and we can’t recommend it highly enough."

"This is a once in a lifetime stay! The property is stunningly beautiful and located deep in the heart of what feels like one of the last "untouched" parts of coastal Costa Rica. If you want a real and authentic experience that's still safe and comfortable, I can't recommend Nereus more highly. Stuart and Jenny are AMAZING and what they've built is nothing short of an oasis. We loved our stay and will definitely be back! "

"I loved the serenity. Villa Bonita is private, clean, and has everything you need for a stay on the Osa Peninsula. I was there specifically for birding, and a short drive trook my guide and me to the best hotspots for finding endemic very special Costa Rica species. Great beaches and chocolate tours nearby too. The host commmunicated well by WhatsApp and the neighbors made themselves available for any kind of help. The bed was very comfortable. Thew kitchen has everything I could have needed. The counter was great as a workspace for downloading all my photos from camera cards to a storage drive. There's a big TV I didn't use, but if that's your thing... There's air conditioning but the windows are screened, so I slept with them open to hear the jungle creatures at night. I wish I could have stayed much longer than two nights and will return. Thank you!"
