This hotel is located on a beautiful beach. The staff was friendly and helpful. Many dining options. Comfortable and clean room. Beautiful experience from start to finish. Will recommend staying at this hotel.

Not enough activities for preteens to do independently. Not enough wild life on property. Too many age restrictions (need to be 16 to use the gym, etc). Need more food variety at the buffet or more reservation days allowed. Otherwise, the best beach in the area

This is my third time visiting but I notice a radical change with the customer service. Manager is none existent. The manage even ignore the Experian agent that called to resolve the issue. The service in the restaurant is a hit or missed. You might get very attentive service but you might also get those that will let the plates pile up on the table and ignore you completely.

The room was not ready when we arrived. The room looked old and the bathroom was terrible. The room floor was dirty. The drinks machine didn’t have drinks, when you pressed juice it brought water. The food was terrible and not a lot of options The staff didn’t look professional.

The worst resort in the world. Don’t waste your money going there. To start, the door did not close properly. This was a serious issue since every night I didn’t feel safe in my room, as the door had a huge crack allowing anyone to see through. Second, the food was the same everyday and lacked flavor minus a few items and the specialty restaurants. Third, the beds were not actual beds, but were just concrete extensions from the wall. The bathroom did not have any warm water to shower with. Lastly, it was extremely crowded. One pro, though, was the extremely beautiful beach, but just go to a resort like Iberostar if you really want to enjoy the natural beauty of the Dominican Republic.

The property was fine, very nice, it was nothing spectacular as the other resorts we have visited, but well maintained. We had access to the Beach side which seem to be better but there was no water in the restrooms which made things very unpleasant. The staff was not very welcoming but they were not rude aside from a particular instance with someone at the crepe station. This resort seems to caters primarily to the Italians, French and Argentinians; there were many activities that were not in English and they had a special night a restaurant which was, exclusively, for the French. The room was not very spacious, but ok. The bathroom sink was clogged, which was an inconvenience and makes you wonder how the cleaning person was able to clean with this problem. There was a $2 charge per day for the safe, which is not a big deal but other resorts include it. Overall, it was an ok stay, for a relaxing four days. We only had one incident we someone at the crepe station, that if management reads this, we hope they address. The male person's first name starts with an "E" and the last name starts with an "M." We don't want anyone to get in trouble or lose the job, but to be mindful that guests are there on vacation to have a good experience with their families, and that it's not ok to disrespect, confront, or challenge a guest. Overall, an ok experience.

To preface this review, I have stayed at many all inclusive resorts including iberostars and secret resorts. If you are not Italian or Spanish, I would not recommend this resort. Personally, I will not be coming back or staying at any other Viva resort. To be fair, lets start with the pros of the resort: very nice beach and beautiful water activities like archery, kayaking, and paddle boarding included (with a time limit). the seafood restaurant and French restaurant were good. Now let’s discuss the cons: - wifi did not work in the room we were staying in and was very spotty throughout resort. - staff in green shirts will harass you and try to sell you things (timeshares, upgraded memberships) MULTIPLE TIMES PER DAY. My husband and I were harassed every day of our trip, when we were trying to relax and have a good time. The green shirts even tried asking for our room number! - the food overall was not great. Definitely below average and some things were very gross and old-looking. Some people we came to the resort with got sick from the food. - the drinks are not strong and will not get you buzzed unless you drink straight liquor. And you do not want to know how those drink cups are washed… it’s not sanitary. - the shower water was sometimes not hot. - there were roaches on the property, but we were on a higher floor in the building so we thankfully didn’t get any in our room. - staff is rude / not helpful to English speakers.

Checking in nightmare

Check in experience was awful. We first tried checking in at Viva Dominicus Beach and were told we were in the wrong place. When we arrived at Dominicus Palace, we were told that our rooms weren't paid for and that we would need to pay for 4 rooms. We had two of our group that could not come and I was told that we could not have those rooms at the rate we were told it would be. Instead we would be charged the current rack rate. Then the clerk told us that half of our rooms were at the Palace and half were at the Beach. After more searching on the computer, we were told that all our rooms were actually at the Beach resort. I asked for assistance to get my group of 15 to the other site. Yes, we got assistance. The bell men loaded all our luggage on the carts and took us to the other resort at a fast pace. Several of my group were seniors and had a very difficult time keeping up. One in fact had such knee pain after this fast hike that the next day that one had to just rest. We were told to just relax at the bar while they sorted out our problems. My group encountered plastic in their drinks. The clerk appeared to not want to help me, the female leader. He was a little more willing to talk with a man in our group. I felt discrimination as a female. I was the one in charge of the group and he gave me little respect and wasn't wanting to talk to me as much as a man. I don't usually feel such disrespect, but I did that day.

From the first day, our experience at this hotel was negative, with multiple deficiencies that severely affected our stay: Room in terrible condition: upon arrival, there were mosquitoes, the air conditioning was not working, the smell of tobacco was unbearable, the Wi-Fi signal did not reach the room, and right outside our door there was an ashtray with trash, cigarette butts, and used glasses that remained there for more than a day. Poor food quality throughout the entire stay. Lack of effective response: despite several complaints made both at the front desk and to the guest service manager, we were only moved to another room the next day. It was slightly better, but the problems continued. Hotel facilities in deplorable condition: Dirty tables in the beach area. Unclean public restrooms. Unprofessional staff. Neglected lobby with stained seats and a strong smell of cigarette smoke. I have photographs supporting each of the points mentioned above. In conclusion, the overall experience was extremely unpleasant and far below what was promised. I strongly recommend avoiding this hotel.

Viva Palace is beside Viva Beach hotel so that you can walk the charming treed walkway between the two properties. Both sites have nightly entertainment - singers, dancing and theatre from 8 to midnight with s disco after hours. International clientele and lots of young families. All sorts of shaded and sunny beach sites. Finally beach is located in a calm bay so lots of ppl in the water all day long.

The property was gorgeous and lots to do and animations for the kids. We all had a great time. The Santa coming on a boat to the resort and handing gifts to every single children was a nice touch. Friendly staff and all multilingual. Not pushy like other timeshare resorts.
