"Really nice stay for 4 nights, staff at reception and the restaurant/BAR were very accommodating. Food was excellent and we dined two nights at the hotel. Only small thing was the state of the dining room tables. Glass stains, worn material which could easily be rectified by covering with a tablecloth."
"The room was adorable, bed was comfortable and storage in the wardrobe was great. Ample coffee and tea in the room w/ accompaniments and there is a small, quite useful fridge. I loved the chaise at the foot of the bed and the additional drawers that allowed a place to put and open my suitcase on top. Full, lengthy tub and great water pressure! Quiet and peaceful, with spacious outdoor seating. The lobby is adjacent to the bar, and the location is in very close proximity to the promenade and the water. My only two, minor gripes were not having the ability to control the room temp, and the partial shower door. The window only opens an inch or two at the top and the room was stiflingly warm, especially after a shower. The partial shower door let water spray and run all over the floor now matter how I tried to avoid it, and by the time I got out, the bathmat was soaked. I rang it out and used it again along with my towel to soak up the remaining water. A curtain or longer door would make a world of difference. They were mostly minor, and combined were the reason for one star deduction. I would stay again without concern, especially since there is a small lift available, which you will not find in most hotels here. That made getting my bags up multiple sets of stairs so much easier. There is a restaurant with a bar on site and they serve breakfast, but I didn't have anything so I can't comment on the food."
"The Devonian serves as an exceptional choice for budget-conscious travelers seeking convenience in Douglas. Positioned just a short walk from the promenade, local attractions, and dining, it offers a superior location compared to many other economical accommodations in the area.
Our guest room was exceptionally clean and featured the added comfort of a private bathroom. The morning breakfast was competitively priced, complemented by outstanding, attentive service throughout our stay.
Accessibility Considerations
Stair-Only Access: The property lacks an elevator, which is typical for traditional buildings in the area.
Mobility Note: Navigating the staircases—particularly to the upper floors—may pose a challenge for guests with mobility impairments.
For solo travelers or groups without physical accessibility needs, the Devonian offers fantastic value, and I would gladly return for future visits."
