"Older building, so it's well maintained. Very nice views and comfortable accommodations. Spacious balcony that overlooked the grounds and has a view of the dock. Restaurant was fair and wait staff was very nice. A very comfortable stay. Great parking and walking distance to the grocery store and legion. Would stay here again!"
"We booked our 2 night stay in February. We arrived to be told that there would be no electricity in the entire region for the following day. The hotel is located in the wilderness at the end of the road. Although the hotel was advised by the electric company of this planned power outage weeks in advance, they failed to notify us, except by phoning our home 2 days in before, while we were already en route as this hotel is only reachable by taking two ferries and travelling two days from Vancouver.
Overall the property was run down and needs a complete overhaul. The hotel restaurant (when there is electrical power) only serves lunch and dinner, and there is no other restaurant. No breakfast available.
We asked for, and received one night free of charge because of the lack of electricity. However, this did little to make up for a ruined two day stay. We would not have travelled to this remote location had we know there was no electricity and no food."
"Staff was excellent. Breakfast medium (moderate variety, and ‘hot’ items only lukewarm). Heat not on in the room(!) and we needed some. View from 4th floor east side was great."
"We stayed at Painters Lodge for one night and unfortunately would not recommend it or return ourselves.
Our check-in was delayed because our room was not ready. When we finally entered the room, the air conditioning was set to 15°C despite it being cool and rainy outside. The room felt very damp, and we were never able to get the chill out of it.
While the rooms have been renovated, the updates appeared cheap and lacked attention to detail. There were wet, crinkled paper doilies on the bathroom vanity, no hair dryer was provided, and there were no nightstands beside the bed, which was inconvenient. The kitchenette was extremely small and awkwardly located right by the front door.
The deck was in need of significant repair, and although we had requested a pet-friendly room, the carpet contained numerous stains, which left a poor impression.
Considering the price we paid, we expected much better. There are several far superior hotels in Campbell River that offer better value, comfort, and overall quality for the same price or less.
On a positive note, the front desk staff were very pleasant, helpful, and welcoming. We also stopped into the restaurant for a drink, and our waitress provided excellent service. The pool area looked very nice, although we did not have the opportunity to use it.
Overall, this property did not meet our expectations, and despite the friendly staff, we would not stay here again."
"All staff were friendly and accommodating! The swimming pool was WARM. It is situated overlooking the harbour.
A beautiful view from our room. All kitchen and bathroom amenities were there. We were very impressed."
