"Paz is a terrific cook and a wonderful BnB host and person. The property is beautiful and in a wonderful location. Quiet but still close enough to town. Internet connection and speed were great allowing me to work during the day. Can’t recommend Buffalo Peaks Lodge enough!"
"I wouldn’t know about the Mountain View, or if the Wi-Fi was fast. I also couldn’t tell you about cleanliness other than the lobby because that is as far as I was able to get. I booked the room last minute online because I had sick children while we were traveling that wanted to get out of the car and have a bed to sleep in. We didn’t get into town and to the hotel until 11:15 p.m. Went inside to check in and the desk was closed with a glass window, it was dark, and there wasn’t an employee in site. Tried using the phone on the counter to call “0” like the paper suggested to get help, and the phone directly across the glass started ringing. No one ever picked up, no one ever came to check us in. We looked up and down the halls for anyone to help us and still didn’t see a single person. I also tried calling the hotel number from my cell phone to see if that would get an employee and the same phone across the desk rang and rang…in the end I tried the 800 number for Wyndham to try to get help from them and I also couldn’t get anyone to pick up on that line. By this time it was almost 12 a.m., trying everything we could to even check into the hotel that I booked and was already charged for. I didn’t pay to be stuck in the lobby in the middle of the night with sick children in the car, and multiple attempts to try to find an employee. We ended up leaving to find another place to stay last minute. Never had such a terrible experience anywhere else. Still out $152 days later."
"Frequently stay in the Fairplay area for work and the Hand hotel has been by far the most enjoyable place to stay. The other option (Riverside Inn) has always been extremely noisy and the staff don't seem to care much about customer concerns. The Hand hotel staff were excellent and it was convenient having the cafe down-stairs... just be aware it isn't open every morning, but there are other options close by. It is a historic building so keep that in mind when booking."
