"Clean quirky property lovely room. The only one negative thing I would say is a proper light in the room would have been useful as we could not seem to find one. But this by no means spoilt our stay."

"Nice location and reasonable rooms for the money. No air conditioning in the rooms made them unbearable. There was a fan (seemingly from the 70's) but only 2 plug sockets in the room, neither if which near the bed, so the fan had no affect whatsoever. Staff we friendly and helpful but food and drinks weren't great quality and were massively overpriced"

"Excellent hotel very close to Museum Gardens for a concert. Fabulous staff from first contact by phone, through check in chatting with our chambermaid, when we were allowed to drop our bags early, and, the breakfast staff. Room was ok but no aircon in ours on a particularly warm night so we slept with the windows open."

"Clean and conveniently located within a 5-10 minute walking distance to the Shambles and York Minster. They offered fresh lemon and mint water upon entrance at the bar and the staff were all wonderful! And, it was nice to have the a/c even though the outside temperature wasn’t even much hotter than 75, even in mid-July. The beds, bedding and towels were as usual, wonderful."

"Lovely old hotel in centre of Thirsk, be prepared for noisy floorboards. Room was pleasant at side of hotel, so no view. The bathroom was up two steps, difficult at night, if partner is asleep and you do not want to put on a light. One negative, placed the 'we're going green, skip the clean' sign on the door, as we left in the morning. When we came back, the bed had been tidied, coffee and biscuits had been refreshed, very nice, but not what we had expected, as we had left all our stuff out in the room. We would stay here again, family in the area, but next time I will inform the desk we do not need housekeeping."
