"Location was magnificent, but we kept on having issues with the hot water. And even though the host did send someone to check it out and got fixed only 3 out of us 5 were able to shower with hot water. By the time the last 2 went in to take a bath the water was cold again. We were leaving the next day so we didnt wanna bother the host and we just did what we could. Sucks we werent able to shower before leaving to the airport the day of check out. "Postivies: Great Location (see negatives also) and access to everything. Great communication. I even lost the keys and they responded on time and importantly, can speak English. Apt has Washer, Drying stand, Water (not drinking water) is ample, shower is really forceful and enjoyable, Hot water, AC (could have been bit better but good), 24 hours security and gated. "This was my first time in Brazil. My first surprise at the hotel was the slow checkin. One has to do a government-required security form online first, but even after that the staff seem to take an age typing in their computers to get one checked in. The front-desk staff were helpful when I interacted with them as were the bell staff, the pool staff, and the maitre d' at the restaurant. But most of the other staff didn't speak English (very much or at all). I had pre-paid, and they forgot to scan a credit card for incidentals, so I ended up struggling to charge to my room one day, talking to a waiter who I couldn't communicate with. That was resolved by a nice manager later. The pool on the 17th floor is very nice with a fantastic view. But I did my swimming in the sea. The hotel provides a special card allowing you to get a towel, leaving the ticket as a deposit. You get it back and drop off when you check out. The biggest problem in the hotel is ventilation: I have a CO2 monitor and found the levels in most of the hotel were way too high (indicating they are recirculating the air). In my room it would get above 1000 ppm (600-800 would be good in other hotels). I did open the window some of the time to resolve this, but there was also high particulate pollution ouside! In meeting rooms of the conference centre part of the hotel, the C02 got above 2200 at times, which makes people start to have trouble concentrating ... not a good thing when you are in meetings all day!"

"I really enjoyed my stay at the Rio. I was fortunate enough to stay in one of their renovated rooms near the top floor, and it was incredible. The new soft bed, the room decor was fresh and the VIEW from the balcony was incredible. Breakfast on the first floor was very well displayed, and the staff at the hotel was very welcoming. Can’t forget the rooftop pool and restaurant. Make sure you check it out. I will definitely return."

"Room and bathroom was unclean. Dirty bed linen, dust/trash under bed under bed and sofa bed provided. The bathroom sink would back up with water and took a long time to drain. I was not notified that the middle elevator did not stop at the 8th and 7th floors. Used the stairs to get to my room several times. Chaotic breakfast seating my table was taken while I got my food, but a good and varied breakfast spread."
