"Very clean , helpful staff , and the air was the only issue it’s gets really cold then really hot . The bathroom has little ventilation so I had to keep the door open so I don’t sweat or overheat after taking a shower. But I would definitely recommend and return back to next year!"

"This was our first stay at the Surf Side and our first hotel stay in OBX. We decided on this hotel based on reviews and ratings but weren't sure what to really expect. We were very happy with almost everything during our stay. The staff was friendly and helpful, especially the ladies staffing the breakfast bar. The breakfast bar itself was great, no skimping here! Although the hotel is aging, it is well maintained and very clean. Easy access to the beach was awesome and the kids loved both the indoor and outdoor pools. Overall a great stay and we will definitely be back. The almost... My one and only complaint was the a/c unit in in the king bedroom. We had a two bedroom condo and the a/c in that room was very loud and much more so than the units in the other two rooms. But I would rather have a loud a/c than no a/c! Overall an awesome experience here!"

"The location of the hotel is excellent and was one of the things we liked the most\. The atmosphere is very quiet and relaxed, and you have a lot of freedom without anyone bothering you\. The staff was also very friendly, and the hotel is truly pet\-friendly, which was a big plus for us since we were traveling with our dogs\. On the other hand, the cleanliness was disappointing\. The bathroom had a strong urine smell, and some of the towels were already dirty even though we had not used them, which was unpleasant\. Another thing that could be improved is the TV, as it would be nice to have streaming options such as Netflix\. Overall, we really liked the location, the peaceful atmosphere, and how welcoming they were with our dogs, but I do think they need to pay much more attention to the cleanliness of the rooms\."
