A one-off experience- but bring your own food.

"Our night at the Chateau had to be the single most memorable night of our trip. I loved it; my other half was a bit freaked by it all. The property is a long way from anywhere down a stone road. The wildlife is incredible (I’ve never heard an all-night frog chorus before and the deer roam freely through the meadows). It is basically a private house offering rooms and a basic breakfast- not a hotel… it’s very much like taking an Air BnB room. The owner is a character but speaks virtually no English- this isn’t for you if you’re not able to get by in French. The house is unique, and speaks of grandeur in the way that old piles do. It felt like spending the night in a National Trust Manor House before they’ve done it up. If you want a night in deepest Anjou where you’re left to yourself to explore a chateau and can sit drinking wine under a tree with a cat purring on your lap, this is worth a go. If you’ve got young kids, you can’t speak much French or have mobility issues (there’s a spiral staircase), stay somewhere else. "

A quick stop.

"Just a one night stop on the way home to UK. What a really beautiful place to stay. A friendly welcome, wonderful rural area. Quiet and peaceful. Lovely food for both dinner and breakfast. Would love to stay again. Maybe just a little too far from the city with not particularly good public transport close by ? However, if you are happy to drive into the Park & Ride it is a great place to stay. "

Incredible in every way

"I thoroughly enjoyed my stay! The building is absolutely beautiful and very well equipped. The owner, Jean Pierre is a real character! He has built the property with his own hands & has done an incredible job. The area is beyond beautiful, absolutely spotless clean & nearby some beautiful locations. The owners are some of the friendliest, warmest hosts I have ever came across. They went above and beyond to ensure we were settled and happy with our stay. They even fixed a couple of bikes for us to take out to explore the gorgeous countryside. I cannot recommend this place enough. It was exceptionally cheap for what we got and I will 100% be returning to L'Atelier in the future. I absolutely loved it here."

DO NOT BOOK THIS HOTEL

"DO NOT book this hotel. Made my reservation well in advance and when I had travelled 12 hours to get to this hotel for what I thought was going to be a romantic weekend the hotel was completely shut and gated up. The drive up to the hotel was also really sketchy. It's next to a hospital and kids sporting grounds covered in graffiti and rubbish. Do not be deceived by the photos. The grounds are awful and the owner obviously doesn't care about the customers. Appalling service. Please please don't ruin your holiday like I did. "
