The first thing I noticed was a wierd smell when I walked in. The toilet was slow to flush as we all needed to use it from traveling all day. The air conditioning was great! Ice cold! When we crawled into bed was when I could finally identify the smell, urine. We brought our dogs with us and I was afraid that they would pee thinking it would be ok since it smelled like pee on the floor. So I didn’t sleep well trying to make sure my dogs didn’t add to the pee. I was surprised though that the front desk or office was open as we came at 11:00pm to check in.

The bathroom had no fan so when taking a shower the entire bathroom had condensation. Everything was wet. The carpet seemed to be dirty, or maybe cleaned but had residual soap . There was no restaurant as was indicated in the Expedia website. It probably should be called a lodge instead of a hotel. The walls did not block any sou. The fridge froze everything we put in it. Positive- Plenty of hot water and water pressure . Checking guy was very cordial and explained things well.

This is a great little motel. The room was newly renovated, clean, and the bed was very comfortable. The place was very quiet. The owner greeted us and was so very nice and accommodating. There was a coffee maker, microwave, and mini refrigerator. I would easily recommend this place.

The facilities were ok. The room only had a portable heater for heating but it did keep the room comfortable. Didn't have hot water. There were trains running nearby. The king size bed was comfortable. There was a ceiling fan.

The very definition of retro. Basic room, clean, and the bed was more comfortable than I expected. I am pretty low maintenance when it comes to a place to stay. Clean room, hot shower, comfortable bed. That’s what I got. The owner/operator was super friendly and enthusiastic, and the assistant was very helpful in getting me into my room when we didn’t initially have an entry card. The one complaint would be that the only source of heat was a space heater, the central heat was not working. If I know that will not be an issue in the future, I would stay there again.

I appreciated the positive nature of the owner and his willingness to answer my questions and to assure I had as good stay. The facilities are a little tired and in need of an upgrade, but everything worked as it should, the room was pretty clean, and the rates were the fairest around. Plus if you like to walk, you can access many of Abilene’s coolest spots from the Diamond Motel. I would definitely stay here again. I usually stay at hotels near I70, but there’s not a lot to walk to from there. There is good coffee to be had at the gas station across the street from the Diamond Motel.

Rebirth of a GEM!

The motel is being renovated so it's in transition. It was a good value and the the owner made sure we were taken care of relative to room temp. and cable TV. I'm confident next year it will be even better!

This is an excellent budget motel. We stayed on Christmas Eve til the day after Christmas. We arrived fairly late and the innkeeper could not have been friendlier or more helpful. He didn't act like we were putting him out even though it was Christmas Eve. The room was nice and clean. The bed was comfortable and there are a ton of free movie channels. The wifi worked perfectly for us throughout the stay as well. We will definitely be back!

This hotel is over-priced by $20. 1950'S style. Luke-warm water, couldn't turn off TV after having trouble turning it on. Grounds unkept. Could be a nice place if a little work was put into it. No breakfast, no-one in office, had to ring bell in middle of day. Manager was responsive to requests. Staff not cheerful, very grouchy. Bed was comfortable.
