Laurel Inn Motel
2/10 Terrible
"Went here with my family (my husband, myself, and our three girls) and we will never go back. The actual layout of the inn makes no sense. The breakfast options are all stale bread, and the room itself was the worst we've ever stayed in. I have a huge allergy to mold and between the first hour my skin started to act up and then came the stuffiness. I knew something wasn't right when my youngest got very stuffy and complained of a headache randomly. We finally went to the restroom and there it was. Black mold caked on the entire window and bathtub. Awful. Not to mention, non of the drawers have handles, I cut my leg on a screw sticking out of the dresser holding the TV since all the knobs are missing, my daughter stepped on a nail since the carpet was ripped up and the under carpet padding was showing. There was no sense of cleanliness besides clean sheets. The carpet was sticky and black and made out shoes sticky, there was pop corn all over one of the beds and floor, a lighter under the desk and black dust all over the bathroom sink. Not to mention the TV remote was broken and when asked for batteries we had to go get them. My husband and I hardly slept as the neighbors were in and out all night slamming their door, cussing, cars squealing in and out of the parking lot. The same truck with a loud glass tail pipe drove through more than ten times being incredibly loud and the homeless community outside was incrediblly loud around 2-3am as they argued for an hour outside."

Motel 6 Marina, CA - Monterey
4/10 Poor
"We tried to update our stay from 2 nights to 1 night a day fully before our 2nd night was to start, and were denied. Long story short, even when we gave plenty of notice to update our stay, we were still charged for an extra night (>$100).
Story: I approached the night shift front desk staff around 8pm. He told me to come back in the morning before checkout to do the request. The next morning I went to the front desk around 10am (check out is 11am). That front desk staff told me to update through Expedia. I then contacted Expedia who told me they needed to update through the front desk staff (coming full circle in a loop). Expedia said they would call the front to work through it. When Expedia called, per Expedia, the front desk said that Expedia needs to call back because the front desk was busy. I then physically went back to the front desk and waited for no other guests to be occupying their attention. Once I was the only one, I told Expedia to call. The front desk attendant then said they had to wait for their manager to come in at 11:30am to handle the situation. We relayed the message & I left because Expedia said they would call them back to resolve the issue. I had to leave the property at this point. The next day I got this email from Expedia "We're understand that your money is important to you. However, after multiple attempts to contact the property on your behalf, we were unable to obtain approval for a waiver. Based on this, the original policy will apply." "
