The air conditioning worked great, the room was decorated and painted nicely. Mostly things were in good order. Only problem was a pair of underwear left hanging in the bathroom from a previous guest. Was a little confusing getting into the parking lot but we are from out of state. It was nice getting to choose our floor we stayed on.
The hotel itself was nice, clean, and comfortable, and I enjoyed my stay overall. Unfortunately, my experience with the front desk left a lot to be desired.
When we checked in, we gave the front desk agent a card to keep on file. She specifically told us she was not going to charge the card, but then she attempted to charge it anyway. When the transaction didn’t go through (I assume because of a fraud alert), I asked why she charged it after saying she wouldn’t. That’s when she explained there was a required deposit, which had never been mentioned beforehand. We were fine with paying a deposit, but clear communication would have avoided the confusion. She also never told me the total amount before processing the payment.
I also think a $250 security deposit is excessive, especially for a property that was previously a Motel 6.
The next morning, around 8:00 a.m., we asked if we could extend our stay by just one more night. Instead of simply extending the reservation, we were told we had to make a brand-new reservation and pay another $250 deposit. I’ve stayed at many hotels and have never encountered a policy like that.
The property itself was pleasant, but the lack of communication and customer service at the front desk made the experience frustrating. With better transparency and staff training, this hotel would have earned a much higher rating.
The afternoon counter girl was very helpful and hard working if the rest of the staff is like her I will be staying there more often

At best it was a roof over my head while in town for a concert. I didn't spend much time in the room but the bed was comfortable. There was no hot water to take a shower before leaving for a long drive home the next morning.
I was moved to 5 different rooms they were all inadequate with issues from no hot water no smoke detectors no heater door locks not engaging bathroom door off the hinges and unclean. Staff was friendly and plesent!
The staff was very helpful, but this motel is in a very rough area and is worse for wear. As I was checking in, someone was telling the desk that there was a stranger rummaging through their room. Other questionable activity on the street outside.

Tale of two cities.
During the day the manager on duty was excellent. He was forced to deal with the homelessness around the property which he did superbly. Unfortunately he was not there for check in or the second evening of my stay and the staff during that period were horrendous, disinterested and impolite. The homeless and drug scene so well countered during the managers time quickly enveloped the property. The staff were indifferent to the problem, Location was near city center and room was clean and comfortable for sleeping. Outside was a bit scary. Some of the guests were part of the problem unfortunately.
I have low standards for Motel 6, but this was the first time I felt genuinely unsafe and uncomfortable. (The front staff was very nice. No hate towards them)The room was a bit dirty but I've been through worse. We ended up going to a different hotel after the first night because there were people up all night and when I left to get coffee around 7AM I was stalked by a man who was hanging around near our room. I didn't really want to assume that was what was going on at first, but after a while I noticed he'd put on a mask and pulled something else out of his bag and kept hiding behind walls and trees as I was walking. I hid in the cafe until my partner picked me up. I kept looking over my shoulder the rest of the stay in SLC. There was also a ton of trash left around my truck in the morning. Still not even sure if my payment went through since I was supposed to pay at the property but I really want a refund for how scary that experience was.

Ok stay for a night while passing through. Clean overall.
The shower curtain is short and water will be splashed everywhere if you move too much in the shower. Overall nice location and clean rooms. But the room we stayed in was kind of small and difficult to put two big pieces of luggage.
In decades of travel around the globe I have NEVER encountered a check in experience that forced me to leave for fear of my own safety. The behavioral "snap" seemed to be concurrent with my confirmation that the reservation was prepaid. Beware. Do not prepay. There are many hotels in SLC. This is an old 1 star accommodation attempting rebranding. The photos did not and still do not represent this property.
