This hotel is a hidden gem amongst all the larger chain hotels. The location is perfect, the staff are incredibly kind, helpful and obliging. The breakfast selection is amazing and did I say the staff are wonderful. We had a wonderful stay here. Thank you.

I don't often write reviews, but the staff at Monte Paschal Praia really do deserve some recognition for being so friendly, welcoming and helpful, especially when dealing with a complicated multi-part reservation, broken adapters et cetera. We were upgraded to a sea-view room, with a wonderful view of the bay. The hotel itself is clean and comfortable, the breakfast buffet is delicious and the pool is perfect for cooling off on hotter days.

This is an average hotel at best. Although I appreciated the cleanliness, the helpfulness of the staff and the ocean view from my room, I personally did not enjoy the Barra area and felt the hotel was not really worth the price. I would look elsewhere next time in Salvador.

Horrible staff not kind or helpful especially the guys at the front desk none spoke any English Door man very rude and even the bus boys in the restaurant were telling the guests what to do as if the guests were their employees.the entire should be fired!! I WANT A FULL REFUND!!!

Was there for 14 days I truly enjoyed my stay perfect location close to the beach the staff was wonderful. Though the hotel was somewhat dated it was comfortable. I don’t know maybe its just me use to staying in five-star resorts perhaps someone else may see it differently.

The location was great. The staff were super friendly and helpful. Some of the front desk staff knew english, which is a plus for any foreign travelers. The breakfast in the mornings were delicious; freshly prepared and a fairly large selection of food to choose from. The bar serves up a tasty caipirinha.

Good location. Next to beach & restaurants. Nice bed & shower. But it is listed as a 4 star. It is at best a 3 star. Not fancy at all. No bathtub, even in upgraded room. Front desk does not speak English. Lobby small & unimpressive, breakfast was large, but not fancy.

Short stopover
A very short overnight stay to catch a flight out of town the next day, but didn't want to stay at an airport hotel, so I choose this hotel based on previous travelers recommendations. Hotel itself is fine, Fernando at the front desk spoke acceptable English, nice enough to upgrade my room. The hotel itself is fine with few complaints for the money, but the area around the hotel leaves much to be desired. Not a problem if all you want to do is lay on the beach, which of course is right across the street. There are better areas to relax and feel comfortable in this area. If you choose this area, the hotel will fit your needs.

Location: Close to the Barra beach but this is the 'old' part of Bahía - the oldest being Pelourinho (city center - 'parada obligatória'; must see but dangerous at night; they say). Rio Vermelho is where it's happening now - US$8 taxi from Barra incl tip. Service is OK (slow). Front desk service is very good. Breakfast is OK; don't expect bacon/salmon/bloodymary/mimosas. Looking for ice at the hotel? Expensive. Looking for drinks at the 'pileta' (pool)? Very reasonable/affordable.

Room extremely small. Great location. Breakfast less than average by Brasilian standards. Had some problem with staff, but management seemed sincerely concerned. Fantastic views.

I found the Monte Pascoal to be a comfortable, friendly, cozy boutique hotel. It is perfectly located to access the beach and local restaurants. It is even within walking distance of the wonderful Shopping Barra Mall. I'll be back!
