"We stayed for one night at Posada de San José while travelling through Spain and overall had a very enjoyable stay. The hotel is full of charm and character and feels perfectly suited to the historic surroundings of Cuenca.
The location is excellent for exploring the old town, with restaurants, bars, viewpoints, and many of the main attractions all within easy walking distance. One of the highlights of our stay was having a room with a balcony overlooking the valley, bridge, and Parador, which gave the stay a really special atmosphere and fantastic views.
The room itself was fairly basic but clean, comfortable, and perfectly adequate for a one-night stopover. The bedding was comfortable and the hotel overall felt relaxed and authentic rather than overly modern. There were a few signs of wear and tear in places which will likely need attention over time, but nothing that negatively affected our stay.
Staff were friendly and welcoming throughout and check-in was simple and efficient. Like many historic hotels located in old town centres, access by car can feel a little tight and parking requires some planning, although this is part of staying somewhere with so much history and character rather than a criticism of the hotel itself.
Overall, we felt the hotel offered very good value for money and was an excellent base for exploring Cuenca. We would happily recommend it to anyone looking for a more traditional and atmospheric experience rather than a modern chain hotel."
