Hotels with Air Conditioning in Sandakan

"This is an old hotel, it used to be one of the best hotels in Sandakan before. Now I saw the building itself is outstanding there but I also realized that the quality of their service and maintenance are not perfect anymore because of recession by the pandemic. One of the reasons why I decided this hotel for staying, the review mentions a " nice breakfast". But they don't have it now. Regarding amenities like a shampoo and toilet rolls, it requires payment if you get extra. I stayed 2nights 3days, so I was wondering If I should buy some. These are the things uncomfortable part staying this hote. However, this hotel fee is cheap and stuffs are friendly. I have no complaints."

"It's a piece of luxury in an interesting place - don't let the exterior building fool you. You can be walking into another world in Sandakan and Hotel Sandakan is a sanctuary amongst it. The staff emulate the local Sabahan hospitality and friendliness, I will stay again next time."

We were so impressed with the friendliness of the staff, the way Sepilok invites you into their culture and the way the lodge was built with the environment in mind. "

"I loved this unique hotel, it was a tick off the bucket to stay in the rainforest! The staff are so friendly and the food is excellent and great value for money. It is very easy to get to the animal centres and I was still able to access the internet so could order grab taxis. I’d definitely recommend bringing bug spray! 100% would recommend, where else can you stay in the rainforest?!"

"Pros are proximity to the airport, and available free shuttle to the airport as well. Otherwise an average 2 star hotel. Cons Breakfast is a buffet style with Rice, Noodles and Vegetables, and Chicken. Eggs are boiled but almost RAW. You can toast your own bread with butter and jelly. Coffee is ok. The rooms are not very clean. Ours was a Non-smoking on the 4th floor, but it smelled like cigarettes. There is Hot water in the shower. Only one half used roll of toilet paper was available. You get bath towels, but no face or hand towels are available. The neighborhood around stinks like sewer but you can find a few places to eat. Overall the place is convenient for an overnight stay before your flight. "
